This national park prides itself on having the world's longest canopywalkway. It stretches over 400 metres,at a height of around 30 metres,and not surprisingly does offer the walker splendid views of
the 130 million year old rainforest.

You can,of course, go jungle trekking and take a closer look at the many types of flora to be found here.
There you have it - a brief round up of just some of the attractions to be found at Malaysia's Taman Negara.It is worth visiting but unless you are an expert you might end up not seeing too much wildlife. Still it would make a holiday with a difference!...

Visiting the Chapel
On approaching the Chapel the first thing that you notice is the fact that the chapel is currently covered in a large metal canopy, this has been in place since 1997 and despite the expectation that it would be removed in 2005 I believe that this will be in place for another 2-3 years. This has been put in place due to the fact that the chapel was suffering from severe dampness and the inner walls were covered in green algae. The canopy is obviously doing its job as the condition of the walls is much improved from my previous visits with the green covering virtually having disappeared. Whilst the canopy does detract from the external view of the chapel it does afford visitors the opportunity to climb up to the walkway and see the carvings on the external buttresses.

...and two rather low-standard museums (both apparently the same). Lunch was available at the rather rustic Wildlife mountain lodge, which is also where we stayed the night and had dinner and a couple of beers sitting outside... in the car park. Not great, but comfortable enough for an overnight stay. After-all we were there to see wildlife, not to stay in posh hotels.
We headed south through the park to explore the lowland dipterocarp forest then Poring hot-springs, which is a kind of Malaysian theme park where people sit around in warm smelly water. There is also a canopywalkway. A scary series of long suspended narrow bridges hanging between trees at about 40 metres which allows you to view wildlife in the canopy (unless, like me, you are so scared that you can't look over the edge) The butterfly farm was quite amusing in that it only had 3...
