The resort of Ixia in Rhodes is not very attractive and dull.In July and August it is recomended to hire a car as it can be a nightmare trying to catch a bus anywhere (Allways full)or getting a taxi. Rhodes old town is a fascinating maze of streets surrounded by moats and 2 miles of walls dominated by the Palace of the Grand Masters.
Lindos is well worth a visit for the clifftop acropolis (you can hire a four legged taxi to the top)nice beech too.
A boat trip to the nearby island of Symi is also recomended.

Needs more detail to be truely helpful. I do agree that Ixia isn't the greatest destination to stay at in Rhodes though - we made the same mistake in 2001!
