The drinks are far cheaper than in most pubs and you don't pay lots for non alcoholic drinks. I suppose if you are a bit snobby the wine list isn't the best but there is plenty of choice. Coffees cost 85p and if you only want a coffee that's fine.

The menu is fairly varied and standard across all pubs in the chain with the exception of Lloyds bars which are also part of the chain. I particularly like the one in Kings Lynn. Especially good value are the Steak Club nights, the curry nights and the Sunday Club. Most pubs do 2 meals for less than 6 pounds. If you expect something special you will probably be disappointed, however the food is better than Brewers Fayre chain.
The range is quite wide from burgers to salads the quantity is usually more than I can eat
There are usually smoking and non smoking areas I think that they are going totally smoke free next year 2006 (GREAT) and in some there are family areas so if you don't like children you can get well away from them.
The buildings are usually really interesting too. Some are old cinemas, some are old banks or post offices and one in Taunton is an old department store. The interiors usually retain some of the original features with lots of bright modern additions.
The ladies loos are always acceptable and the decor in some is a wonder to behold.
The Wetherspoons at Gatwick and Birmingham airports(the only airport branches that I have visited) have the same menu as in other outlets, but the price of their drinks and food is higher than that in high street outlets.
Are they clean? Well the tables don't get cleared and wiped too often at the busiest times but generally there is a reasonable standard.
The customers vary from area to area. In some you find the local drunks who are there for the cheap beer, in most you find ordinary people out for a meal and a drink, people who pop in on the way home from work or during their lunch break and I know of one local Wetherspoons that was for some years the meeting place of a local Mensa group.
