It was the first ever gay bar in my home city that I went in. And since then, I have been thoroughly impressed.
The bar is located in the area where most of Nottingham's gay bars are. It's location on the main road through Nottingham means that it is easy to spot. Parking however, ouch! Bit of a problem for on-street parking. Car parking however is available on other local roads.
It has a great atmosphere. It boasts a dancefloor, bar, snug and pool table. Often enough, you can pick up the latest copy of the free gay magazines and there are regular drinks promotions and special nights, where certain genre's of music is played.
Following the introduction of a by-law that stopped the regular stripper, it hasn't been as busy. But a twist of fate and a faux pas on the part of the council has meant that the weekly stripper will be back on the agenda, and many people are looking forward to it's return.
Drinks are good value, and during the week there are various promotions. It's busiest nights are at the weekend's but is also busy on the 1st Monday of the month when the monthly gay night is held at The Palais nightclub.
When the bar re-opens after the refurbishment, I think it will still remain a top venue in Gay Nottingham.
Open to all, there is a varied group of regular drinkers in the bar. Highly recommended.
