NEW STUFF - ok ok ok , to keep everyone happy, 1st, im not worried about DVT, it happens to anyone, but i hate small spaces, you be my hight and sit in a seat made for a below average height person for 13 hours!!! the rest of the flight, was not much fun, i had no TV on the stewards chair, i just looked out the window ( beautiful views of the northern states and ice cap, plus great mystical lines across Tunguska) the object of this moan is to say, JAL is not for the tall of stature, it maybe cheap, but id pay a few hundred pounds more not to be tortured ( and it is torture when you are claustrophobic!) so if you like JAL fine, they are probably very nice, but, not for me!!!
While touring SE Asia on a business trip I travelled on various dodgy airlines, some serious rust buckets, flying Russian roulette you may say. Now the last leg of the tour was Japan to London. I assumed that Japan Airlines would be a pleasant change, a country of efficiency and technological brilliance! and boy I was wrong. Being a large chap of 6'4" my experience with JAL was more a chronic nightmare. During my visit to Tokyo, I noticed that many things are not built for the taller gentleman, no doubt due to the distinct lack of 6 foot + members within the populous. This mentality of catering for the average Japanese height seemed to be seriously over done on the 747 I was taking home! When I sat in my seat I could not even touch the floor with my feet as my knees were propped against the headrest of the seat infront! I swear they must have crammed an extra 200 seats onto that plane! After a brief argument, followed by threats of legal action regarding discomfort, economy class syndrome, and above all my claustrophobia! I managed to wrangle temporary ownership of a far more luxurious stewards chair, aswell as a large amount of larger and jack Daniel’s to make that journey all the more pleasurable. I sign off by saying, if you are tall DO NOT TRAVEL ON JAPANAIRLINES,
Just a bit more detail and this would be a very helpful op. If you add to it let me know and i will re-rate it.

Not bad so far - just needs a bit more detail on some of the other services. ~Daniel

Very little said here. If you are so concerned about DVT, then the worst thing you can do is drink alcohol. Have flied JAL myslef and not had any problems, still, things may have changed, however, I have not rated FH because I disagree, but because there is not enough said here to merit a higher rating. Cheers... Dan
