When I go to Japan, I mostly go with Japan Airlines. Japan Airlines has what a passenger would want on an airline. I purchased my ticket on Japan Airlines ticket center. Unlike many airline ticket centers, I was quickly served by a very polite operator and soon had a ticket from Vancouver to Tokyo and back. At $2000, it is quite pricey. The operator gave me a $100 discount for I have flown on Japan Airlines before. My tickets came through courier in two days.
When I arrive at the airport, I am quickly checked in and were given kind instructions. At 1:35, I got on-board. Because the flight was actually Mexico City to Tokyo via Vancouver, there were many passengers on the plane already. But things went smoothly and I got quickly to my seat. Safety Instructions, Menus etc. were provided both in English and Japanese. Two hours into the flight, snacks were provided. There were western style snacks and Japanese snacks so whatever you felt like trying you could choose. Prior to meals, you are handed out hot towels to clean your hands. Meals contained a mixture of Japanese foods and western foods. All was delicious. They showed two movies during the flight. The headphones were made so you can hear English or Japanese. Once in a while the TV screen would have In-Flight stretches which were very fun. All flight attendants were kind and very helpful. The flight was very relaxing. On the flight back when I was coming home a slight problem happened. The door wouldn't open. Because of the fact that the airport only allowed a certain door open, we were stuck in the airplane for 45 minutes. The Flight Attendants were quick to respond to any passenger concerns. They also gave everyone a complimentary drink during the commotion.
Japan Airlines handles everything well. They should be a role model to many airlines. (especially for the smaller Asian airlines.) Japan Airlines is the best choice if its with your options.
