the residential area of Es Castellot, in the heart of Santa Ponsa Bay and only 31 km from the airport. The hotel has been revamped and is perfect for business events as well as relaxing holidays. Its seafront location offers breathtaking views over the bay - no matter where you are in the hotel.
Advantages: Busy but not hectic, clean, compact, central for excursions Disadvantages: Quite hilly, lack of scenery/architecture
...and taxis was cheap and plentiful (about £5 to Magaluf and a bit more to Palma Nova).
The beach was sand and very clean and the sea was gently sloping - great for young kids.
We found that SantaPonsa was a good resort that would suit families and young people - there wasn't the usual 'groups' of loutish behaviour that can be prevalent in some Spanish resorts. It is central for all the SW corner of Mallorca - although the more 'touristy' attractions on the east coast are about 1-2 hours away by bus/coach. In itself, it is quite a featureless resort - if you want a sun and sand holiday its ideal, but if its scenery & architecture you're after, forget it.
Two small notes of caution however :-
1. SantaPonsa is quite hilly away from the centre, so young kids can find a grind.

Advantages: It is just brilliant - it has something for everyone. Disadvantages: none
...I have been to SantaPonsa twice and each time it can only get better, SantaPonsa has something for everyone. It is on a northern Island in Spain called Majorca, because it is in the north of Spain it really gets the hot weather so for those of you who like to soak up the sun, SantaPonsa has a lot of amazing weather and beautiful beaches. For the clubbers amongst you SantaPonsa has a fine selection of really jumping clubs, my personal favourite being 'Fama' and I am only 16 so I do know what a good club is, also it is a 5 minute taxi journey away fom magaluf and I suppose you all know magaluf is home to some of the biggest clubs in europe. SantaPonsa isnt all clubs, ther are some great Karaoke bars and loads of traditional restaraunts. It is also full of great irish bars with live music, all night, every night. SantaPonsa...
