...had always thought of the Jarvis chain of hotels as something quite expensive and therefore had never really considered them as an option for city breaks. I usually manage to find something cheap but reasonable and prefer to spend money on eating out while away than on a posh hotel anyway. Two weeks ago, however, we decided at short notice to spend a couple of days in Manchester, a city I don't often get to. To cut along story short, the combination ... ...with the option of the Jarvis Piccadilly. The hotel's website listed double rooms at £95 down from £129, but by booking through a discounted rooms website we got the room for £50.00 including breakfast. The hotel is ideally situated for a short stay in Manchester; five minutes walk from Piccadilly Station, five minutes from Chorlton Street Bus Station, round the corner from Piccadilly Gardens which look lovely at the moment with twinkling lights ...

dirty and dated Review ofJarvis Piccadilly, Manchesterby
street600
Advantages: city centre location (near big Primark!), nice breakfast Disadvantages: very dated, dark and dismal, dirty rooms, badly needs refurbishing
I stayed at the Jarvis Piccadilly earlier this year whilst I was away for work. All I can say is I am glad that my work were paying as I certainly wouldn't pay to stay here!
This hotel is in central manchester in a large quite unnatrative buidling, It was fairly diffcult to find even with a map. The entrance is in the ground floor with signs to take the lift up to the reception. Not a very welcoming entrance, rather dark and dingy.
The staff on ... ...room some 7 floors up. The lift was like something out of faulty towers and looked like it hadn't been update in years. I was quite relived when it got me safely to the correct floor. When I got to my room the key they had given me didn't work so I had to brave it in the lift back to reception. After finally getting in my room I was extremely dissapointed, It was an average sized room but the decor was horrible - in serious need of an update, very ...

Advantages: City Centre, pool and good special offers Disadvantages: Old decor
My girlfriend and I stayed at the piccadilly last year over the Easter bank holiday. Half price rooms......! We paid £35 a night for a standard non-smoking room, and stayed 3 nights.
The standard price is around £70-£120 depends on the type of room you have. So for the money you would expect the hotel to be great. Unfortunately the rooms looked like they had not been decorated for years, and for a non-smoking room all you could smell was smoke.
... ...soap there, but anyway you would expect them to be new and clean, well they looked like they had been used.
On a plus note, the gym and pool was good spent a few hours in there each day.
They have their own bar called the arts bar not bad and quiet cheap. 24 hour security and on site parking.
This would be a really good hotel if only they spent some money updating the features.
You would be better off in the travel inn ...

Advantages: Good location, excellent facilities, nice food and service Disadvantages: Can be very pricey, small rooms
...Having experienced one good hotel in the Jarvis Chain, The Jarvis Picadilly was our choice for our weekend away to witness Spurs lose at Old Trafford. The footie may have been disappointing, but the hotel lived up to the quality reputation, save for a few minor mishaps.
It is situated in the heart of City, a short walk away from the Arndale Shopping Centre, and overlooks Piccadilly Gardens and Tram Station, however, don't be fooled by any pictures you may see of this hotel, as where there was once rows of trees and shrubbery, there is now a building site, as the council and local firms busily prepare for the 2002 Commonwealth Games, to which Manchester is the host city.
CAR PARKING
The hotel has its own free car park, albeit in limited numbers - it is accessed via a little side street behind the hotel. The driveway is very...

...As some of you know, recently I have been travelling a fair bit, and when I do this with work I have a budget to work to, and am very prudent when it comes to spending it – to the point that I only claim what I have spent rather than my full subsistence level – so, coming to the end of my travelling for the time being, I decided that if I was getting grief to claim it then I may as well spend it.
My first destination was Manchester, and normally this is done in fine budget style which have seen me take in the windowless walls of the Britannia, the 6 foot beds and tatty walls, DIY ironing boards of the GMEX 2 PremierLodge, the 'no room to swing a cat' of the Thistle, and the, you can only have a special rate if you share a room with someone else of the JarvisPiccadilly – so what stories did Ciao have to tell on Manchester outlets...

I stayed at the Tulip Inn (Trafford Centre) early in August as the Arctic Monkeys were playing at Lancashire Cricket Ground.
When we arrived the car park was quite full but had plenty of spaces, even though the hotel very obviously very busy.
