I stayed at the Jarvis Piccadilly earlier this year whilst I was away for work. All I can say is I am glad that my work were paying as I certainly wouldn't pay to stay here!
This hotel is in central manchester in a large quite unnatrative buidling, It was fairly diffcult to find even with a map. The entrance is in the ground floor with signs to take the lift up to the reception. Not a very welcoming entrance, rather dark and dingy.
The staff on receptionist were nice enough and directed me to my room some 7 floors up. The lift was like something out of faulty towers and looked like it hadn't been update in years. I was quite relived when it got me safely to the correct floor.
When I got to my room the key they had given me didn't work so I had to brave it in the lift back to reception. After finally getting in my room I was extremely dissapointed, It was an average sized room but the decor was horrible - in serious need of an update, very dark and dismal. The bathroom had damp patches on the ceiling and walls and the sink and surfaces around it were cracked and stained. The bath looked like it hadn't been cleaned properly in a while and was generally not very pleasant. The walls of the main room were very dirty with stains on.
I was actually pleasantly suprised in the morning when I checked out and went to have the breakfast. The restaurant looked like it had recently been refurbished and looked modern clean and bright with large windows letting the light in. It felt like a different hotel. The breakfast was a hot buffet with all that you would expect and toast, pastries cereal as well. Tea and Coffee was served hot to your table.
I would not recommend this hotel as for the same price you can stay in a much more pleasant hotel,
