Dip me in chocolate...
Review of Jerry Springer The Opera by iainc

Advantages: A fantastic night out
Disadvantages: Not for the easily offended.

“This is my Jerry Springer Moment, I don't want this moment to die so dip me in chocolate and throw me to the lesbians I don't want this moment to die” An anthem for our times, this verse sums up for me what Jerry Springer the Opera is all about. I went to see this show a few weeks ago, on a wet Monday night, on some half-price tickets from TKTS and I am so glad that I did. This is probably one of the cleverest original pieces of Musical Theatre ...
...1, we watch an entire Jerry Springer show, as a member of the audience would see it at the studio. The show actually starts while the audience take their seats, as the Security team take their places at the head of the aisles in the Stalls. The overture is the arrival of the guests – typical redneck Americans out for blood. We are then introduced to the warm-up man. Of course, he isn’t very good and the audience isn’t very happy with him. They want ... Read review

Dip Me In Chocolate And Throw Me To The Lesbians
Review of Jerry Springer The Opera by markd_uk

Advantages: Hilariously entertaining stage comedy
Disadvantages: You need a seriously open mind to watch this

...heard a lot about Jerry Springer - The Opera, not least of all the controversy recently caused when BBC2 showed a televised recording of the stage show. The biggest complaint by far was about the number of swear words contained within the show, followed closely by the religious morality of the production, but I have to take my hat off to Auntie, who stuck to her guns and broadcast the show anyway. If, like me, you've not been able to work out whether ...
...you through the world of Jerry Springer - The Opera and right now recommend that you try to get to see the show before it closes on February 19th. (According to the show's dedicated website, however, it will begin a tour of UK theatres in October 2005.) Like most good theatre productions, Jerry Springer - The Opera is split into two acts, the first depicting a Jerry Springer TV show, the second a Jerry Springer special: Jerry Springer In Hell. As ... Read review

Jesus is Ga-ay, Jesus is Ga-ay...
Review of Jerry Springer The Opera by louiseypees

Advantages: Absolutely hilarious!
Disadvantages: Not for the faint hearted or for kids!

So you've heard about Jerry Springer the opera, right? And I'm guessing a lot of you had exactly the same reaction as a certain boyfriend of mine - i.e. "Well I'm not going to see it - I can't imagin anything worse! A combination of Jerry Springer and Opera - two of my most hated things!" I got him the tickets for his birthday. He was gutted. In fact, we argued for around two days straight. But there was soon a great deal of word-eating going on ...
...all of the reviews of Jerry Springer the Opera as soon as it hit the West End, after hearing a few murmurings about it when the National Theatre decided to be a little daring and take it on in 2003. Being a member of what I thought to be a rare breed - the Jerry Springer loving Opera geeks, I thought the idea of the show sounded amazing, although the fact it was getting good reviews put me off a bit - if a music theatre critic likes it, can it really ...
