Advantages: quiet, 40 miles per hour speed limit, glorious beaches Disadvantages: could be too quiet if you stayed too many nights?
Jersey is an island that I have always wanted to visit. I went there for 1 day over 10 years ago, when I holidayed in France, and have always vowed to go back again. This year I finally made it and stayed at a hotel in St Helier (Merton Hotel, reviewed separately).

...in the UK knows where Jersey is located but for all of you folks who may be as ignorant as me at first , Jersey is one of the beautiful islands which belong to the Channel Islands group which are located kind of south of England ( and the rest of UK I suppose ). Jersey is apparently only 7 miles from the coast of France but belongs to the UK. The language spoken is English ( although two ladies in a cake shop spoke what sounded like French ...that's ... ...I went to Jersey on a sort of long weekend break, 4 days exactly. We have arrived by plane which takes about an hour from Doncaster airport. The Jersey airport is located in the western part of the island and is very easily accessible by local bus from St. Helier which is the capital of the island. It is also very accessible the other way of course. The buses run quite often which is about 20-30 minutes. The airport itself is quite nice and has a ...

...but that's another review!)
Jersey is situated just 12 miles off the north west cost of France. I have spent many a happy holiday in Jersey and thought it would be nice to share my experience with others who may wish to visit in the future. ~~~ A Little Background Information ~~~

...I haven’t been back to Jersey since 1995. Although I will endeavour to inject a lot of facts and a little bit of history here, this is essentially my opinion on an island that I love.
My memories of this idyllic island stretch back a long way, and may be a little bit biased, as I was fortunate enough to be born in Jersey, and then spend the first three years of my life there. However, I will try to portray an objective opinion.
The Island ... ...second World War. Jersey consists of 12 Parishes, which I suppose is similar to counties on the mainland (UK), only on a smaller basis. The names of the parishes are as follows:

So what do you do when you have gone on holiday hoping for sun, sand and, erm, sitting on the beach, yet all you get is rain, rain and more rain? Yep, make sure I book next year’s holiday in the Med! Seriously though, we were taking a short holiday in the ChannelIsland of Jersey with our 2 ½ year old son but were basically confined to indoor activities due to the bad weather. From past experience in Jersey, I knew that the Jersey Potteries were one of the more popular places on the island that attracted people who wanted to take shelter from the rain, so off we went, pack-a-macks and wellies at the ready (only joking about that bit) and made our way to the village of Gorey.

...For my latest Jersey review, I thought I would introduce you to my favourite little eating place on the island. Nowadays, especially since the arrival of our little boy, we no longer stay in hotels but choose the more convenient option of a self catering apartment. However, I utterly refuse to ‘self cater!’ It may work for some, but in my opinion, cooking tea and washing dishes can be saved for other 51 weeks of the year. During a holiday, whilst many people prefer to partake of their evening meal in the luxury surroundings of a Michelin star restaurant, I prefer to opt for the more comfortable, easy going setting, namely - a pub!
We originally came across Les Fontaines Tavern by accident approximately four years ago. During a leisurely drive around the island late one afternoon, and having got lost a couple of times, we were...

...Having visited the ChannelIsland of Jersey many times over the past 25 years, I have always been inspired by the Jersey War Tunnels, formerly known as the German Underground Hospital.
We decided to visit Jersey again this year, but as the whole of the country is only too aware, the British summer has been a non-starter and the appalling weather decided to make its way down to the ChannelIslands. Needless to say, there was no chance of soaking up the sun on the beach, so we had no alternative but to explore the indoor attractions. It had been several years since we visited the War Tunnels so thought this year would be a good opportunity to see if it was still as interesting and enjoyable as in previous years.
