We visited Jersey in early April and stayed at the Metropole Hotel in St. Helier. The hotel was centrally located and had excellent facilities including a swimming pool and gym. We stayed on Jersey for four days and saw most of the island by coach tours from St.Helier. I think this was the best way to see the island since the local buses are relatively infrequent at that time of year. It is possible to hire a car but the roads are often quite narrow and quite confusing.
St. Helier is a great shopping centre with everything VAT free although things aren't really any cheaper. The island has some great scenery, beautiful beaches and a number of other attractions. The island has quite a lot of WW2 history and many of the attractions are centred around this.
Although we really enjoyed our time there we felt that we'd 'done' the island and wouldn't return year after year. Jersey is a really beautiful place with interesting places to visit but I think apart from the holiday camp on the island there were few attractions for families with younger children.
