Advantages: Cheap, cultural Disadvantages: Boring, dusty, leering men, lack of pavements

Unfortunately there have been a couple of recent incidents. In September 2006, a shooting incident in downtown Amman near the Amphitheatre left one British national dead and a number of other tourists injured. In November 2005, suicide bombers killed 60 people and injured almost 100 in hotels in Amman.
My personal view is that nowhere is really safe from terrorism (especially not in the UK) and Amman is not an unsafe place to visit, but I would follow any government advice and remain vigilant.
Communication:
I posted some letters from Amman and they took over a month to reach the UK and were very battered and somewhat dirty on arrival! Most mobiles will work but check with your provider. Expect to pay around 50 pence to send a text message. There are a lot of Internet cafes dotted around and you can expect to pay between 1-3 dinars an hour...

What's your budget? Go from there. In Jerusalem you can stay in anything from a 5-star hotel for which the sky's the limit to a modest and inexpensive hostel--or anything in between. I stayed on a B&B plan at the Palatin Hotel just off King George V Street and was entirely comfortable for an affordable rate. Moreover, the dearth of tourists in recent years has made for some incredible bargains for lodging. It truly is a matter of “seek and ye shall find.”
Keep in mind that wherever you lodge, members of staff at your hotel or hostel are likely to be your best source of information on local restaurants, shops...

...I stayed here whilst on an airline training course. Luckily I wasn't paying for it!
About the hotel:
Apparently it's a four star but I'd personally give it three stars. The website boasts of the luxury and how it's located in a prime part of Jordan. It's actually located at the Fourth Circle and is 30 minutes from the airport. It's a 10-minute drive to the city centre, not walk. The area around the hotel is surrounded by busy roads and broken pavements, the only way to go anyway is to hail a taxi and try not to get run over!
First Impressions:
It seems a bit run down. You walk in past a security check point (after the Ammanhotel bombings these were installed in most hotels) you walk into a small foyer with the reception desk to your left. Up a couple of steps is an open plan area filled with small tables and chairs...

My impressions of this game when I saw it advertised on the internet was that it looked like a completely different type of game that I'm used to seeing for the DS.
