Jet 2 is a budget airline which began operating out of Leeds/Bradford airport a couple of years ago and has proved to be just what the people of Yorkshire had been waiting for! Jet 2 offers cheap airfares to many of the most popular getaway destinations in Europe such as the Spanish coast and many popular city-break destinations such as Amsterdam, Prague, Venice, Paris etc. I have flown a couple of times with Jet2 to Amsterdam, Venice and Barcelona and each time have been more than satisfied with the service. Jet2 has one great advantage over some of their budget competitors in that they actually fly to the main city airports e.g. Marco Polo in Venice and Barcelona main airport. This is invaluable when you are travelling away only for a short break as you are then not faced with a long bus journey on arrival to get into the city centre. The jet2 planes are all fairly new and well-maintained. The staff are smartly dressed and friendly and each time I have flown with them they have been ON TIME! As Jet 2 is a budget airline, there is no in-flight meal and the bar drinks must be paid for, but then again these are not exactly long-haul flights so this is not much of a sacrifice. The other great thing about Jet2 is the website. This is very easy to use and they offer a "Cheap fare finder". This allows you to view the fares on a particular route for a whole month at a time, thus allowing you see the dates when it is cheap to fly. This avoids the frustrations generated by seeing an airline advertise a cheap fare deal, but then not being able to find the dates when this particular fare is available. Having said that, I have found that Jet 2 is not automatically the cheapest airline and competitors seem to be reducing their prices on some routes to compete, so it is still worth shopping around before you book. Overall, though, Jet2 offer a good punctual service with a website that is easy to use.
