My Father has flown with Jet2 twice in the past 12months and both times he was carrying a bicycle in a carry case. Obviously this is a large item, and yet it cannot be booked in prior to the flight day.
The flight (from LBA to Paris) was booked over the internet and it informed us that bikes could not be pre-checked. Therefore we had to phone Jet2, which took forever to get through. FInally we were told we would just have to hope there was enough room in the hold for the bike once everyone elses luggage was stored. This could have been an absolute nightmare, if the bike hadn't have fit in ,the whole holiday would have been cancelled at the last minute. I do not understand why bikes cannot be pre-booked as other items can be.As far as I am aware Jet2 didn't provide us with an answer.
Luckily there was room and my Dad managed to spend 5days cycling around Northern France for the VE DAy celebrations earlier this month.
Also on the return flight the plane had to abort the landing at the last possible minute (landing gear was down) as a gust of wind knocked the plane off course. Jet2 did explain the situation to the customers to ensure they were fully aware of the situation as not to cause a panic!

Advantages: Cheap flights! Isn't that why we fly with them after all? Disadvantages: All the extra charges, however even after paying for hold luggage it's still cheap.
