Advantages: Interesting and you learn something Disadvantages: A pain to get to and not really worth the effort
I thought Jim Thompsons House would be one of the attractions of Bangkok as I had heard about it before I left England. However it was a bit of a disappointment. My friend and I armed ourselves with directions from the nearest train station, but I swear that the map was wrong. What was meant to be a quick stroll turned into a long, hot, dusty walk along side a lot of queueing traffic. Not really my idea of a good start. We eventually found the right ... ...She also explained alot about Jim Thompson himself aswell as the reasons that the house was designed in this way.
She also gave us some history about Thailand and Bangkok in general. We found that there was just enough information to keep us interested, but not so much that you get bored and switch off. And it was easy to ask questions if you wanted to know something that was not covered on the tour.
