Advantages: Good food, resonably priced. Disadvantages: wait for tables at weekends

Joe's Diner is an American style diner in Northampton town centre. The same company have two other similar diners in Northampton - Buddies and The Blue Plate Cafe. Personally I prefer Joe's as it is the biggest of the three, so you are not crammed in so much. The restaurant is decorated with a American theme. There's lots of paraphanalia attached to the walls and the ceiling. The tables are well arranged, some with red checked tablecloths, and others are tucked against the side walls, booth style. This creates a nice dining atmosphere, whether you are out with friends, or a loved one. There is an extensive menu, not just burgers as I initially thought it would be. They do have a very good choice of burgers if that's what you fancy, but also offer choices of mexican dishes, fish dishes, salads, sandwiches, pastas etc. They also offer a good vegetarian selection, including many varieties of veggie burgers. Basically, I think even the fussiest eater should be able to find something to their taste on the menu. The portions are huge. I usually don't bother with a starter, choose the small option for the burger and still can't clear my plate. Most dishes are accompanied by salad or coleslaw and fries, which are piled high on your plate. The food is always delicious, and served to you within a very reasonable time. The prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get, and the house wine is very palatable. Joe's has a bar upstairs, so you can have a drink before your meal, and this also means that the selection of drinks available within the restaurant is better than a lot of places, that don't stock a full bar. In the week, you can usually stroll in and get a table immediately, but Joe's is popular at weekends, and they don't accept bookings for small parties (I think 6 is the mimimum for a booking) so you may have a wait for a table, but this gives you an opportunity to have a drink in the bar, and in my experience the estimated waiting time given is usually very accurate. The staff are friendly and efficient, and Joe's makes for an enjoyable meal out.
Advantages: Some good food Disadvantages: Awful customer service
Had an absolutley awful experience there last night. Booked a table for eight for a birthday party, when we got there we were seated at two tables of four. Asked to speak to the manager who didn't come and see us for half an hour (finding that cleaning glasses at the bar was more important). When she did come over she shouted at a member of our party who had th audacity to complain and asked her if she had ever run a restaurant! When the food came ...
