...I was thrilled when I got the message that we would be going on a company trip to Rome. Since I had been there before I got the task of finding a hotel. Finding a hotel for 24 people in central Rome in October turned out to be quite a difficult task. Many of the centrally located hotels are smaller and many were fully booked. In the end we decided to stay at Express By Holiday Inn San Giovanni located at Via Assisi 53. We had to pay 125 € per room.
Arriving in Rome
We landed in Rome at about 11 am in the morning of October 21st. We walked over to the train station at LeonardodaVinci airport also known as Fiumicino (FCO). From here you can take the Leonardo Express to Termini but since the hotel is located on the way we decided to go for a local train direction Orte-Fara Sabina for 5 € and after about 30-40 we reached the train...

INTRODUCTION:
Well this was my second trip to the Eternal City and I wanted to be a little closer than last time to some of the sights we wanted to see. So with the aid of the internet and Autoroute I found a hotel that looked OK and was fairly close to the Vatican and Castle d'Angelo - the Hotel la Rovere. The description made it sound like a reasonable hotel though not the cheapest and the pictures of the rooms looked OK too.
We took a taxi from the airport - those of you who have done this will know that there are more thrills in a taxi ride in Rome than any theme park ride! So scary I hardly opened my eyes to see some of the sites we were passing. Luckily it is not a hugely long trip and our taxi pulled up rather hesitantly in front of a flat fronted building...

We made the reservation, giving our VISA card number and went to Rome without knowing much things about there place we were going to stay.
The Hotel website has a map to reach the place, which we followed. So, after leaving the Fiumicino (LeonardoDaVinci) international airport, we got the train to Termini, and finally the Metro to Ottaviano. The map was very simple, and after a 10 minutes walk we reached it.
Our first impression was good. The reservation was registered and the bedroom waiting for us, clean and nice. Like the name says, it’s a coloured place, full of strong vivid tones, which makes it look modern, young and nice!
In the following days the good impression was maintained.
