...the best available double room when we got to the hotel.
The hotel that we had booked was the four star 'Jolly Carlton'. I had a look on the internet and it seemed wonderful.
We were told that check in wasn't until 2pm, but when we arrived in Amsterdam in the morning, we though that we would go to the hotel to see if we could leave our luggage there so we didn't have to drag it around the city until 2pm.
The hotel is about a 15 minute walk from the central station, which we managed no problem, even with our luggage. If you don't want to walk then there are also several trams you can take, either from the central station or from the centre of the town, though it really isn't that far and it is a fairly flat road all the way, and it means you can window shop as you walk! Advantages: Central location and value for money Disadvantages: None
...When choosing a hotel in Amsterdam the traveller is faced with a multitude of choices and you're never sure exactly which hotel is good or bad. I hope this opinion helps to clear the confusion.

The HotelJolly Carlton is owned by an Italian chain of hotels which have properties throughout Europe. It is situated right next to the Singel Flower Market and some of the rooms are lucky enough to overlook the Muntplein which chimes each hour on the hour 24 hours a day. The hotel reception has a luxurious feel and marble abounds. As first impressions count so much we knew we were in for a treat. The receptionist greeted us with typical Amsterdam cheer and smiles. The check-in process was quick and soon we were being portered to our room...

Advantages: Location, Prices, Rooms, Staff Disadvantages: Mini bar prices
...Myself and my partner stayed in this hotel for one night on before our return home from Pisa airport. I?m pretty certain this hotel is actually a 3 star and it actually feels more like a 4 star.
The hotel was spotlessly clean with exceptional rooms; we were lucky to have one with a balcony which overlooked the plaza below. The bathrooms are huge and come completely stocked with hair dyers and all the essentials such as cream a shower gel.
On first impressions of the staff did seem a little arrogant, but I do not think this was intentional. Perhaps it was my strong Welsh accent which had them a little confused. They were extremely helpful, gave us a map and suggested the best ways to get to the main attraction sites.
The hotel had an impressionable restaurant with an interesting Tuscan menu and was very reasonable priced. It...
