...I lived in Milan for two years when i was age 7 and 8, we had to move out there because of my dads job. When we first moved there we had to stay in a kind of hotel/bording house called the "Prince Pesse Catilda" translated into english as the "Building of Shit" my bed was a broken bit of drifwood that pulled/collapsed off the wall and the bathroom was more like a sunked ship.
Anyway after living/surviving there for six weeks we moved into a luxery appartment allong Vialle Montello right next to Parko Sempioni. Parko Sempioni was an oasis in Milan, full of happy children and ducks!(although after a resent visit last year where i almost got mugged i have now changed my mind!!) In the park was the main Arena where the apparently used to hold great sea battles, yeah SEA battles. They used to floor the Arena and reinact...

We arrived in Milan on a train from Geneva. If you are planning on taking a bit of a tour of Europe the trains are excellent – we just turned up at the station bought our tickets and then sat on a nice comfy train watching the stunning Swiss scenery slowly blend into Italian countryside for four hours. Do keep your passport handy for the border checks. The train was very reasonably priced at about £35 each one way. It makes you wonder why trains in Britain are unable to offer this level of service.
If you are flying directly into Milan for a mini break Easyjet fly to Linate airport (about 5 miles / 8km from city centre) for between about £10 and £50 depending on the time of year you wish...

..., but for shopping. An example? Well, there are a lot of cinemas an theaters in Milan, and a mass of museums, but cinemas and theaters never program English or German or French movies/spectacles, and in a museum, if you are really lucky, you will find an automatic translator and some explication written in English, but I doubt that you can find someone who really speak your language.... among the characteristic requested for the personnel the knowledge of foreing languages isn't considered.
Milan is also a really dear town, (today the newspaper said that Milan belongs to the 20 dearest town in the world), there are a lot of wonderfull hotels, that fit for businessmen and cost a lot, and a certain number of cheap hotels that are really bad places. There is nothing in the inbetween.
There are a lot of places to see in Milan, but you can't find them...
