An Old English pub (The Plough Inn Country Pub and Dining Room)

Advantages: Beautiful gardens and great food.
Disadvantages: Expensive, not a lot of room in side

Campaign' They claim that they serve up over half a ton a week of their home fried chips using Maris Piper potatoes. - and take it from me - they are wonderful - if rather pricy at £2.25 per portion. DIRECTIONS The Plough Inn Country Pub & Dining Room is situated on the A6 near junction 33 on the M6. tHERE IS A CAR PARK NEXT TO THE PUB.. Leave the M6 motorway at Junction 33. Travel north on the A6 towards Lancaster City Centre and signposted for Lancaster University. The Plough Inn is ½ mile on the left hand side prior to passing under the railway bridge. By canal - Just north of Galgate Marina, there is mooring close to The Plough - then it is a 20 yard walk. Holiday Inn Kensington Forum

Advantages: Near tude station, modern hotel
Disadvantages: Expensive car parking

I recently visited London for a couple of days (Monday to Wednesday) and rather than sleeping on a friends sofa decided to try out a website I had seen reviewed on Ciao (priceline.co.uk). After trying the site a couple of times to see the variation in price I booked a 4 star hotel in the Kensington area for £41 (plus taxes etc). When the confirmation came through I was informed that the room I had booked was in the Holiday Inn Kensington Forum (for anyone who has never seen this site before I recommend reading some of the reviews on it, it will save you loads of money.). The only downside to the site is that you don?t know what the hotel is until you have booked it so I was relieved to see that it was part of the Holiday Inn chain and felt confident of having a pleasant stay. ** Background ** The Holiday Inn chain of hotels is ...

The Meadow Inn

Advantages: It is local to use and the lunches aren't bad
Disadvantages: Poor service and tunch and go with quality on the food

MEADOW INN Over the years I have eaten at the Meadow Inn on many occasions; it all started with a day out with my husband and he took me there and I enjoyed a ploughman?s lunch. We enjoyed our meal so much we tried the evening menu and visited on several occasions with family and friends that came over to visit us, we even celebrated my daughters 18th birthday there five years ago now. Since then I started going there for lunch with my darling mother who passed away October 2008; this became a monthly visit, and even weekly at times after my father passed away four years previously. My mom loved to have a steak, onion and mushroom baguette, with chips and side salad; she used to phone me up and ask if we could go, she never managed to eat it all up, and would take some home for her tea in a doggy bag. It was during these ...
