I'm a regular at the happy hour, every day until from 5-8 p.m. and Sundays all night long - almost every cocktail for DM8.50, plus free tortilla chips and salsa on weekdays. My friends and I have tried the whole menu and we've never been disappointed. ... ...like the New York Tubes (filled with spicey turkey breast), Singapore chicken satay, chips and guacamole, or the spicey nachos. The fajitas (chicken, beef, shrimp, or mixed) can't be beat. The regular menu is changed every 6 months, and there is an extra weekly menu that always has a starter, a salad, two main courses (one usually fish), and a dessert that is otherwise unavailable. ...New Orleans is a wonderful and enchanting city. Wether you're going to for the night life or to learn about the local culture - you won't be bored.
If you're the type to party - there are many bars in the French Quarter. Make sure you go to Pat O'Brian's and sit in the piano section and drink Hurricanes and Mint Juleps. And before you leave - have a look at the flaming fountain - /very/ cool. Or, if you want, get your drinks "to go". You're allowed to drink in the streets. (No open glass containers, though.) It gets very crowded on Friday and Saturday nights, and even more crowded if you go during Mardi Gras.
During the day (if you're not too hungover) you should wander over to Jackson Square. Have a look inside the cathedral, and the surrounding museums. Maybe have your shoes polished, your palm read, your your portrait painted...
