Advantages: Beautiful beach hotel in the most buzzing area of Dubai! Disadvantages: There is still construction surrounding the hotel, but everywhere has to start somewhere.
Before I go into the details of the hotel itself and the available facilities, I would like to say that I have been a resident in Dubai for 11 years now and have seen everything this hotel has been through from its own construction, the problems it faced with the jumeirah beach residence project right through to today! The Hilton, built in an area that used to be considered as 'out in the middle of nowhere' is now very much apart of what is soon likely to be the centre of Dubai, the Dubai Marina. This is the new, futuristic, modern end of the Emirate of Dubai and is where it all happens. The majority of the beach clubs and restaurants are in this area of town and it is suitabley located to allow for fairly speedy access to the rest of Dubai.
The hotel is a short taxi ride away from the Mall of the Emirates and Ibn Battuta Mall ...
Advantages: Dubai is a safe place with very good quality of life. There is universal brotherhood everywhere. Disadvantages: None for me, but the hot weather for tourists who are not used to this.

Various standard package tours are available, covering the city, the desert, East Coast, the mountains, and neighbouring emirates. Helicopter, boat and dhow tours are also available. Dubai has very neat and clean beaches and there is lot of scope for swimming.

It ranges from watersports - sailing, fishing, windsurfing, water-skiing, scuba diving to squash, tennis, horse riding, cycling, ice-skating, shooting, archery and golf. A Dubai Open Tennis Tournament and World Cup in Golf and Horse Riding are other international sporting activities.

Well-known shopping areas include the Deira Gold Souq for, as the name suggests, gold; Deira Old Souq for spices; Al Fahidi street for electronics; Deira Towers for carpets, the Wafi Centre for various luxury items and Meena Bazaar for textiles. Bur Dubai and Deira Covered Souq have an Indian/Pakistani influence. And Karama is the district to bargain for a fake Gucci watch, if you are so inclined.
