Jumpin Jaks is situated on The Kingsway in Swansea - one of the most popular nightlife areas in the city! A little bit scary at night, but by the time you get a few drinks down you, you won't care! The club is a few minutes walk from the town centre, it is easily accessible by bus, the train station is just 5-10 minutes away, and there is a taxi rank directly opposite it. A little while ago I wrote a review on Flares nightclub in Swansea, mainly because I like the place because the music is fab (i.e. NOT chart music). Well, here's another one to add to your list - Jumpin Jaks - It's The Best Party in Town!

Despite Catherine Zeta Jones-Douglas frequent ramblings about her beloved Swansea and Jumpin Jaks, the people around here still love it.
You can see and hear the Story of Jaks on the website, although it is a little difficult to understand as the quality of the sound isn't very good. This is what I gathered from it (please tell me if I'm wrong!):
Jak was born in 1935, his mum was a 'lady of the night'. When he was 4 years old, his mum met a Cajun gentleman who she fell in love with, so she quit her job and moved in with him in the Bayou(?). A few years later, she got eaten by a crocodile down by the river. Jak took this hard, when he grew old enough, he moved back to New Orleans. In 1955, he got a few different jobs in nightclubs. He loved the live music, partying and drink! In the 1960s, he won a hand of poker - the loser couldn't pay him so he handed over his 'Gator Skin Warehouse'. Jak opened his own nightclub here in memory of his mum. 'Jumpin Jeans' didn't sound very catchy so he named it 'Jumpin Jaks'. He didn't really change any of the decor, he built a timber wood stage and a bar, and people flooded in!

Some useless information for you - the club moved in to Swansea's old Odeon cinema building 10 years ago.
~~~ The Decor ~~~
Jaks clubs are decorated in the same way as the original - it all looks very Western! Everything is wooden, the stage, the stairs, the bar... They have old advertising billboards and other similar decoration - it's a refreshing change to the usual nightclub! If you have been to Disneyland Paris: it's a lot like Frontierland.
~~~ The Music ~~~
Jaks prides itself in it's range of music from the oldies (I'm an oldie at heart!), right up to today's chart music. If you visit Jaks often, you'll start to get really fed up of the same repetitive music! They seem to LOVE 'Summer of 69' by Bryan Adams, 'I Am The One And Only' by Chesney Hawkes, and 'Like A Prayer' by Madonna, amongst others - but if you only visit once in a while, it's all good fun!
~~~ The Staff ~~~
Jaks staff are great! When it's not busy at the bar, they have to get up and dance - on the bar! They're normally very pleasant, all dressed up in their cowboy-style shirts and hats!
~~~ The Prices ~~~
Entry is usually about £5.00, but there are often great deals on drinks - just don't buy the drinks that aren't on offer, they seem to be double the price that any other club charges!
Let's take a look at the typical week in Jaks:

~~~ Special Events ~~~
From time to time, Jaks has special guests which always sell out! Some recent guests were: Jo Guest, Peter Andre, Keith Duffy, Darius... and so on.
Jaks also has Halloween, Christmas and New Years parties - apparently they always go down well! I went to the Halloween one last year as a Gothic Vampiress, and I thoroughly enjoyed myself!
~~~ Conclusion ~~~
Jaks is a really good night out, but only if you do it now and again. The music gets boring if you go there too often, and the drinks are a bit pricey. But all in all, if you're going to have a night out in Swansea, I would definitely recommend Jaks!
Advantages: its a colourful restaurant by day, funky club by night! Disadvantages: you can't guarantee the drinks offers are on!
after a certain time to mainly attract a more mature group of party people. It could also be something to do with American Drinking laws -even though we are in Britain. I'm not too sure why but the older age group is also targeted in Luminar's other nightspot "JumpinJak's" where its over 21 years there too.)
#THE SWANSEA VENUE LAYOUT
As you walk in the main doors immediately in the foyer there are signed pictures of musicians of all genre and era. There are framed golden records or discs.
(The framed photographs and also, replica instruments and guitars are a running theme throughout the venue.)
Through the foyer doors you are faced with a centre all-round drinks bar.
At the right hand side is a comfy chair area and large windows on ground level. (When I say "comfy" I mean the padded armchairs with soft cushions. They are ...
