SPLIT DECISION FROM EDINBURGH JURY!

Advantages: Reasonable prices, easy booking, very central
Disadvantages: Expensive dial-up internet access, has the potential to be very noisy because of proximity to Waverley train station

For anyone that doesn’t know, Jurys Doyle is a hotel and inn chain with its roots in Ireland and 36 hotels in cities across Ireland, the UK and a handful in the US, with another 3 UK outlets planned for the UK in 2005. Their offerings range from 3 star inns to 5 star luxury.

Jurys Inn Edinburgh is just that, an Inn rather than a hotel, and at the lower end of the Jurys Doyle chain, room-wise comparable with the Premier half of the ...
...Edinburgh, a stones throw away from Princes Street and George Street, it is well placed to explore the offerings of this magnificent city.

Unfortunately, my reason for travelling was business rather than pleasure, so once again, I didn’t get chance to look around, one day…..

LOCATION AND GETTING THERE
As already said, ideally situated for exploring the city, a taxi from the airport will set you back around £18 ... more

The Verdict Is Good

Advantages: Reasonable prices, good location
Disadvantages: Quite noisy

The Jury’s Inn Hotel is on Jeffrey Street in Edinburgh making it very close and handy for the Royal Mile and overlooking the Waverley railway station. Indeed the room I had recently fronted onto the street with the railway station below and I do have to say there was more noise from the road and from the trains than you would have wished to hear. The hotel itself is part of the Irish owned Jury’s chain and the rooms are quite comfortable ...
...of tea and coffee making stuff and toiletries in the bathroom. Whilst the normal rate may be £79 for a room I got mine for a £45 per night corporate single rate which for a hotel so close to the city centre offers good value. The hotel restaurant is called Archers and offers a good menu and two courses of starter and main course will set you back about £13-£17 per person which is a tad below average for a similar hotel/location. I had a satisfactory ...

Verdict was unanimous on location!

Advantages: Excellent location, on-site parking,
Disadvantages: Not suitable if looking for a relaxing break

special deals are available from £69, although I am sure these will be available dependent on anticipated demand. Although I haven't stayed here at these prices, I have had some excellent deals at some of their other outlets including Edinburgh, Glasgow (Hotel) and Birmingham. MY VERDICT For the purposes in question, Jury's Bristol fitted the bill perfectly, and is definitely aimed at the business and fun seeking leisure traveller rather than those looking for a few days relaxation. With rooms on offer at £55 for this evening, you could do a lot worse. CONTACT DETAILS Jurys Bristol Hotel Prince Street, Bristol, UK, BS1 4QF Tel: 0117 923 0333 Fax: 0117 923 0300 ...

Review of Jurys Bristol Hotel, Bristol

THE JURY IS 4 TO 1 IN FAVOUR

Advantages: Super location, cheap drinks, on-site parking, high speed internet access in rooms, good food
Disadvantages: Very large hotel, poor administration, charge for car-parking, room windows don't open

add £9.50 to your bill. As you would expect in a hotel of this size, it is buffet service and on offer were a whole host of cereals, juices, yogurts, pastries, breads and toppings. There was also the usual hot selection of bacon, sausage, hash browns, fried bread, beans, mushrooms, potatoes, veggie meat types. To be fair, it was fresh and hot with none of the school dinners experience we had in Jury's Edinburgh. MY VERDICT: 5 out of 5 LEISURE FACILITES This is a Jury's Inn rather than a hotel, and they pride themselves on offering affordable practical accommodation for the business and leisure traveller. The superb location means that chances are you will not need them. However, if you cannot do without your daily workout or swim, there is a leisure club opposite the hotel, and Jury ...
