...OVERVIEW
If you are considering a trip to Ireland, one of the most popular areas to visit is around Cork. Although I've been to Ireland almost annually since a child, I'd never visited Cork until this year. The area differs enormously from the West Coast, in that there are more rolling hills, arable farming and very reminiscent of Cornwall or Devon.
On my travels I always like to stay in nice hotels, well at least the best that I can afford, and that usually entails trawling through the various travel booking engines to see which is offering the best deal. I tend to find that the airport hotels are usually slightly cheaper than those in the centre of town, and for me there is the added bonus that I can do a bit of plane spotting and photography as well!!

Check the website relevant to your airline for the airport in your country that flies into Cork. If there isn't a convenient one, it may be easier to fly into Dublin and get a bus (Adult monthly return) €33.00 or a train €59.50 (Adult monthly return).
Airport to city: There are 2 options, a taxi (expensive) or the city shuttle which costs €5.50 per person for a monthly return. It runs every half an hour to and from the airport and talks about 25 minutes journey time. The shuttle is wheelchair / buggy friendly.
SMOKING:
Remember as of earlier on this year, smoking is banned in all covered places of employment this includes pubs, restaurants, hotel rooms and museums. So if you want to have a puff, go outside and make sure to dispose of your extinguished butt responsibly or you could be subject to a €500 littering fine...

...as you wish to leave your room, you take your key with you, everything is automatically switched off. I really appreciated that and wish this system was used in every hotel worldwide!
