This Jury's Inn, one of three in Dublin city, is ideally located for accessing the city centre, as are all Jury's Dublin Inns) It's situated in Christchurch Place, about 5 minutes walk from the drinking dens of Temple Bar (heh, heh) and Grafton Street (the main shopping area) and College Green. (Trinity College and the Central Bank) Dublin Castle is about one minute's walk and the Guinness Hop Store, the single most visited tourist attraction in the city (by far!) is only about ten minutes brisk walk away.
It's also directly opposite Christchurch Cathedral, and just around the corner from St. Patrick's Cathedral. So you're ideally located whatever your preference; a night on the tiles, followed by a Sunday service the following morning to confess your sins of the night before. Mind you, both the city's main Cathedrals are of the Protestant persuasion, so probably don't go in for confession. (But that's another story!)
This hotel is another of my much favoured pit stops when I'm working the city centre in my taxi. There's a small taxi rank outside (no parking tickets!) and they don't mind us taxi drivers popping in for a quick coffee and snack or to use the toilet facilities. (Did you know there isn't a single public toilet in the whole of Dublin!) A very tasty wee cup of coffee it is too in their "Il Barista" coffee dock. You can either get a coffee to go or else take a seat in their very comfy lounge and bar area overlooking the main street outside. (So I can see when it's my turn on the rank. Heh, heh)
The hotel isn't on the route for the Aircoach from the airport, so your best bet on arrival is a taxi, which will cost you about Euro25. (Depending on the time of day) The hotel is extremely well serviced by public transport though, located as it is on a main thoroughfare, with plenty of bus stops just outside the front door.
You needn't worry about the standard of accommodation in a Jury's Group hotel. The company was started here in Dublin way back in 1839, by an ex-commercial traveller called William Jury, and has since expanded into a multi-national concern, with hotels all over Ireland and the UK and in the United States. So it's fair to say they know the hotel business at this stage.
The rooms are standard 3-star fare, with all the usual amenities like en-suite bathrooms, TV, phone and fax facilities, iron and ironing board, tea and coffee making facilities, etc. A tip I would give you if you're thinking of booking this hotel is to try to ensure you get a room at the rear, as a front facing room will be very noisy, the *VERY* busy main street being just outside your window with a constant stream of heavy traffic 24 hours a day.
All their rates are per room per night, and will sleep up to three adults and a couple of kids. The usual rack rates are in and around the Euro140 to Euro160 per night, but when you split this say three ways it's actually very cheap for such a centrally located 3-star hotel. Of course, these prices are negotiable, and you should browse the Jury's website for special offers, which are constantly available and constantly changing.
The prices don't include any extras (like food!) so if you fancy a cooked breakfast this will cost you Euro10 to Euro15 extra, or you can pop into their "Innfusion Restaurant" for an evening meal. My own advice would be to walk down the road to Temple Bar for a main meal, where you'll be spoilt for choice. (Plenty of good restaurants) Another alternative is to pop around the corner to "Borza's" for fish and chips. This chipper is world famous, and makes the best fish and chips I've ever tasted anywhere in the UK or Ireland!
If you're bringing your car then be advised that this Jury's doesn't have car parking facilities. There's a NCP car park just around the corner in Werburgh Street though, where you'll be able to get a reasonable 24 hour rate.
Recommended for anyone thinking of popping over to Dublin for a long weekend.
Excellent advice, Ken ~~ spoken like a true journalist and taxi driver! All l need to know now is about bed firmness and disabled access
