I booked the Jury's Inn (Glasgow) for myself and two friends as we were spending a weekend there for my birthday. I have booked it two years on the run now and will probably book it again next year.
It cost us £90 a night, which worked out at £180 for the Friday and Saturday night for three of us.
The booking was very easy to make and the website is extremely user friendly.
*****Location******
The drive upto Jury's Inn was very easy, as from Liverpool and its pretty much one motorway, but the hotel was also very easy to find and is right next to the bridge over the river on Jamaica Street.
The hotel is very close to the centre of Glasgow and we walked in each night, which takes around 5-10 minutes max. There are a variety of restaurants, pubs and fast food places to eat and drink around every corner. You would not find it hard to discover any of these places.
*****First Impressions of Hotel*****
Our first impressions of the hotel were very good, the hotel looks lovely from the outside. We parked our car temporarily outside the front entrance.
The lobby area is very nice and i leads straight to the reception area and then through to the bar.
The reception staff were very helpful and gave us a couple of spare cards as we requested this (incase we got lost in the night after a couple of drinks). They also offered us breakfast and directed us to a couple of local chinese restaurants.
*****The Room*****
The room was your usual standard three star room. Had your standar amenities, en suite, coffee making facilities, television, double bed and pull out sofa bed. The room wasn't particularly big but was sufficient for us. There was also generous wardrobe space for the three of us.
Not much on TV, they say they have Sky but prob about 3 extra channels which were mainly news anyway.
The room was also very clean and so was the bathroom.
You had soap, shower gel etc provided in the bathroom and fresh towels each day
*****Service*****
The maids came in the morning and we asked could they come back, which they did and cleaned our room very efficiently.
The bar staff were also very helpful and didnt let your glass get empty for a second. (we were sitting at the bar though).
*****Facilities*****
There is a restaurant which is 'a la carte' and a bar which also provides snacks. We didnt try the restaurant but the snacks from the bar where a good standard, but were slightly expensive. We decided to go to the nearby weatherspoons the next day, for breakfast which was great.
The hotel does not have a car park, but there is an NCP car park nearby and if you get your ticket stamped in the hotel it only costs £5 for 24 hours, which was good.
****Overall****
For us (three lads aged 23) this hotel was excellent. The rooms were of a good standard, the location of the hotel is excellent, the staff were very helpful and polite, and their is a bar downstairs!
The hotel was never noisy and neither was the rooms.
Another note to be made, was the Belarus International Football team where staying at the hotel whilst we were there as they were playing Scotland. So the hotel must have been of a decent standard for these professionals to be booked in there.
The only tip I would give you if your staying is to make sure you park outside the hotel and unload your bags before you park in the NCP as its not that close.
I would recommend it to anyone who needs a good quality hotel which is very close to the centre. It worked out to £30 a head per night for us so you cant complain about value for money!
