As a business traveller to Newcastle I booked this hotel for two reasons.
1) It is about 5 minutes walk away from the station - particularly useful in the winter as those arctic winds sweep through Newcastle like no mans business!
2) It is right next door to my firms office so obviously means no taxis in the morning.
Sounds great so far and I would fully agree location is great.
HOWEVER
The hotel is large and clearly used for hen and stag weekends to a massive extent. The decor reminded me of a boarding school or a hospital - tired and slightly beaten up. There are signs everywhere warning you that if you trash the rooms you will be charged a deposit and there are bouncers on the door on a Friday and Saturday night, so probably not the best place to go for a romantic weekend with your other half.
The staff are relatively friendly, you will be seen quickly at reception desk and staff tend to smile at you which is always a good thing.
The rooms are functional but dont expect to be able to change the temperature - which is either freezing cold or boiling hot. The rooms are not soundproofed so you get a lot of nighttime noise from people leaving the hotel bars during the early hours of the morning.
There is a bed and bathroom in each room which is cleanish but don't be surprised to find hairs left by the previous occupant in the bath shower. On my last visit I could not adjust the water temperature in the shower so had to have one of those showers where you dip under the water for a second and then out as it got too hot and then back in when it cooled down for a second.
The hotel bars and catering facilities are good and reasonably priced so a definite plus. However breakfast (at £10 if not included in your room rate) is one of the worst that I have ever had.
Expect dry pastries and stale toast that you have to heat up yourself on one of those revolving toasters where you can have half raw bread or black toast. The orange juice is not freshly squeezed and the instant coffee machine awful!
If you are looking for a cheap and basic hotel this is ok - but I think that there are plenty of better ones out there.
Overall despite the good location I have decided to move to a competing hotel that is a lot further from the office - just for my sanity.
Advantages: Great location, cheap, new and modern Disadvantages: No free parking
I booked this hotel because I thought it was a bargain at £40 for a triple room, which was cheaper than us getting a taxi home! The location of the hotel is great, it is just a few mins walk from the train station, it is opposite the centre for life and about 2 mins from the metro radio arena. It is also just a few mins to bars and restaurants.
There is no parking at the hotel but there is Times Square car park across the road where you can park ... ...to the entrance of the hotel, for dropping off picking up and there always seemed to be taxis outside.
The entrance of the hotel is in a courtyard type area with the hotel at one end and offices and apartments at the other. Our room overlooked this area which I was very pleased about as there is a busy road on one side and a street of bars on the other side of the hotel which I imagine would be noisy!
The receptionists were friendly, as checked ...

Advantages: clean, nice decore, good restaurant for breafast and dinner also a bar Disadvantages: fairly standard, not really romantic weekend away style.
I have stayed in this hotel on two occasions when on work trips and would definately recommend it. The price is good value for money , I think it was £69 a night for the double room (single occupancy) and breakfast.
The decor is warm and welcoming throughout the lobby area restaurant and rooms. All very clean. On both occasions I had a bath in my room with a shower over the top - good power shower with plenty of hot water that could easily be controlled ... ...cupboard which was welcoming as I stayed there in Winter. The room had tv with terrestrial channels plus a few freeview channels as well. There was the option of paying for internet access in the room or there were pcs down stairs in the lobby where you could pay per session. I ate in the restaurant and the food was good. Nice english dishes which were filling. They did a deal where starter and main meal were £12 or with dessert £15.
The breakfast ...

Advantages: Location to pubs bars, Disadvantages: car parking
Jurys Inn - reasonable prices. Especially if being charged corporate rate as I was. Very clean courtyard and nice welcoming reception area. Rooms are not overly plush but are decent standard to get your head down in for one night. The only problem was the sound from the courtyard travels up to your rooms. If you are a light sleeper any noise from people returning from the pubs near by and collecting in the courtyard for a smoke before they go into ... ...only other issue is parking too. Its quite close to the hotel but because of the location of the hotel you might spend a couple of trips travelling round the ring road finding the nearest parking place. But once you've parked up - pleasant experience to stay in hotel and located central to all amenities. ...
