Jurys Inn Nottingham is located between bridge over the river and a water channel on the London Road , southeast of the city centre, close to the railway station and within a two-minute walk of the tramway system.

First Impression

On arrival to the Jurys Inn in Nottingham city centre, me and my partner were greeted by a modern, quite impressive looking, 8-floors high building. Although the building looks a little unfinished, the reception area looked spotless and shiny marble flooring as well as dimmed lightning and colour scheme added to a very glamorous look. The receptionist welcomed us and checked us in in a fairly informal manner. Unfortunately, we were not given any directions on how to get to our room, where the hotel facilities are or any restaurant/bar opening times.

FACILITIES

Car Park

The Inn didn't seem to have any car park attached so we parked on the side of the hotel and entered the reception to check-in. We were told that the hotel doesn't have its own car park but uses Holmes Place Fitness Centre car park across the road. It's not far but not the most convenient when you have a lot of heavy luggage. The cost is £5 per night.

Air-conditioning, hairdryer, multi-channel TV, 24-hour Sky News Channel, telephone/voicemail, high-speed Internet access, tea/coffee tray

Negative points
Bible in the room (I'm not religious& find it a slightly annoying, can't see a reason for it..)
Very shallow &narrow bath
Railings &disabled aids in the bathroom make me feel a bit uncomfortable

Good points
Room nicely decorated, practical& comfortable, 4 mirrors in the room

Guest Amenities
11 Dedicated Meeting rooms (can't comment, we haven't used this facility), Public car park close by, laundry/dry-cleaning, ironing room, ice-dispensers in corridors.

Dinning & Bars
Innfusion Restaurant - a choice of 7 starters (around £5 each), 9 main courses and signature dishes (around £10-17 per meal), 7 desserts (around £4.50 each), 5 kids meals (around £4); choice of wines
Inntro Bar (a choice of 16 main courses and hot snacks (around £8 on average),as well as sandwiches and sweets(around £4.25 each),wine selection from £13.95 to £45.95(per bottle)

Room Service - non-existent, guest can order food/drinks but have to collect and carry them upstairs themselves

'At Jurys Doyle Hotels Group, a strict environmental policy is in place as part of the groups' contribution to protecting the environment, in which we are committed to sound environmental practices in all areas of our business.

- We separate and recycle newspapers, office papers, organic waste, cardboard, glass batteries, fluorescent and long-life bulbs and have a target to divert 70% of our waste from landfill to recycling over the next twelve months.

- We have installed Combined Heat and Power Systems, substantially increasing our energy efficiency and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by an estimated 7000 metric tonnes per year.

- We use only the most environmentally acceptable cleaning products from which phosphates have been eliminated and packaging is minimised.

- We are actively pursuing the reduction of water usage in our bedrooms and washrooms.

- We are working with suppliers who have good environmental policies to reduce packaging waste and improve the environmental impact of all products purchased.

Please help us to safeguard our environment.

Some ways in which you can help:

- Do not leave taps running unnecessarily.
- Turn off lights and TV when leaving your room.
- Leave your newspapers and bottles aside for recycling.
- Place used towels on the bathroom floor if you require the to be replaced, if not, please leave them hanging on the rail.

This hotels energy saving scheme is absolutely amazing. It was the first time I have encountered such sophisticated system. All the lights, TV, heating and plugs only work while you are present in the room. When you enter your room, you must slide your door key in the slot just next to the door to make all your lights and heating/air conditioning active. As soon as you wish to leave your room, you take your key with you, everything is automatically switched off. I really appreciated that and wish this system was used in every hotel worldwide!
