It took a long time to choose a hotel that looked suitable for our needs of a two night trip, they were either over our budget or the reviews weren't very good and gave you cause for concern (a lot of these bad reviews came from hotels that are situated near and around temple bar area). After a lot of decision making we finally chose the Jurys Inn, Parnell Street.
The reviews that we read were the best we had seen and there wasn't anything that could give you a major concern. It was also recommended to me by some work friends that had previously stayed there and I was assured that the rooms were nicely decorated and clean.

The cost--> We went at the beginning of August during the week and we paid 122 euros per night, room only which was around £83 (there was the option of including breakfast in the price). I do think that was a bit pricey but to find a nice clean room with good reviews I think it was worth it, and not forgetting that the hotel is in one of the most expensive cities!

When paying for the room: On arrival my friend planned on using her credit card but could not because of a problem with her card not clearing or something, so she paid with her debit card, which meant she had to pay for it on arrival , if she had have been able to use her credit card, they only needed it for reference on arrival and then would have charged it on leaving. There was also the option of the money being took out in euros or pounds.

Location--> The hotel was 'over the bridge' i.e. off Upper O'Connell Street, my friend was a lil hesitant when booking as it did not seem close to Temple Bar/ Grafton Street which is the other side of the bridge. (I was not too bothered about having to walk far as I have been to New York twice and considering the size of the city, you have to walk even if the hotel was in the centre, I was also told that the walk wasn't long by the friends who had previously stayed there). Getting back to the location-- It was in a good location, it is located in Parnell Street about 2 mins walk from O'Connell Street and I would say it would take 5/ 10 mins to walk down O'Connell Street to where the bridges are which take you into Temple Bar and Grafton Street, which is where all the shops/ bars/ restaurants are.

As I said above about the other hotels with bad reviews being near temple bar, we passed quite a few of the 'better' ones when walking about and we were definitely thinking we had made the right choice from looking at the outside, they were old and the quality was definitely not as good as Jurys Inn, Parnell Street.

Ease of getting there--> Getting to the hotel from the airport was very easy, I would suggest the air-link bus, as I believe it's called. It costs 6 euros, we bought our ticket from a machine while queuing as we didn't know if they would accept notes and if they were able to change them as I had read the 'normal' everyday buses don't carry change and that if you need change the driver gives you a ticket and then you go to some other place to get the change, (this is help stop the drivers being robbed). Getting the ticket from the machine guaranteed you your change and it was also a 1 day rambler ticket which meant you could use it to get on buses for the rest of the day if you wished. The air-link bus stops at different points, but for us it stopped at the top of Upper O'Connell Street, were we got off and walked up to the crossing and crossed to the other side of the road and Parnell Street is located ahead of you, and then it is a short walk to the hotel.

When going back to the airport there is a stop on the opposite side of the road that you got off the bus originally on arrival (it's on the side that Parnell street is on), the bus comes every ten minutes but there is a timetable at the stop, it also says Air-link on the sign.

It takes about 30/40 mins to get from the airport and around the same to get back as you would expect.

First Impressions--> My first impressions of the hotel from the outside was good, the hotel has a big sign saying Jurys Inn, so you can't miss it. When entering the hotel, the reception area is very posh with the reception area straight ahead and seats to the left and right, also with the lifts to the left. They also have lots of tourist leaflets in the reception to pick up. It is nicely decorated.

The Staff--. The staff at the hotel were very nice and polite both at reception and in the bar. The cleaners done a good job when they came in to tidy the room and they replaced the towels that we wanted taking away.---- No complaints there!

The Room--> Our room was on the 3rd floor, when opening the door wioth the key card I was very surprised to see that it was fairly big, bright and nicely furnished. To turn the light on you need to put the key card in the slot next to the door and light switch.

The room consisted of:-

• 2 twin beds
• TV- with satalite channels
• desk & chair
• Hairdryer
• An open cupboard for your clothes
• Extra towels
• Spare covers and pillows- that are above the cupboard
• Bedside tables
• Another small table with arm chair
• Telephone/ voicemail
• Coffee/ tea making facilities
• Bible
• Yellow pages
• A little book with information in about doctors, dentists, hospitals, taxis etc
• The menus for their restaurant and bars.
• Full length mirror
• Wireless Broadband
• Air conditioning
• Can have a wake up call

The walls were painted a nice light creamy colour as was the bathroom. The bed covers were read with a nice pattern and were well made. The bed was fairly comfortable . The room was clean and so was the bathroom, you couldn't fault it. The water pressure in the shower was great, really strong. They also provided you with shampoo and shower gel. The room also had a nice large window.

Negatives--> The only negatives to the room/ hotel is that the lighting isn't bright enough for putting make up on, you can do it but I personally would have prefered it to be abit stronger, and also the view from the window wasn't anything special, it was looking out (down) onto a side street, with probably someones business, but I suppose someones got to have those rooms.

Overall--> I think it is a brilliant hotel, the negatives I had were only minor things and if I was to go back I would definately stay there again.

Other Amendities--> Other amendities that I have not mentioned or have skimmed are:-

*Innfusion Restaurant- The food on the menu looked very nice but cannot comment on it as we did not eat there.* Inntro Bar- We did go into here on both nights before going back to our room, only thing we can comment on is the tea, we got a pot of tea each for €2.50 and it was very nice. The bar looked very clean and was on the 2nd floor.
