Being a seasoned transatlantic traveller since meeting my American girlfriend a couple of years ago, I can honestly say that on no other airline have I enjoyed such a good all round service. Incredibly, if you book early enough, KLM also generally offer the cheapest seats available to fly over the pond.
The one major downside to them is that most of their flights go via Amsterdam, which obviously adds time to the journey, and also means experiencing the wonders of the Bae 152 aircraft, which it has to be said does not offer the most stable of airborn experiences. Having said this, the staff remained courteous and extremely efficient throughout.
On the transatlantic flight, food was served on a regular basis, and was of a much higher quality than on equivalent flights with BA, Air France and Delta. Since the flight to Atlanta was that little bit longer for flying to Amsterdam first, they chose to show two flims, which were in English with Dutch subtitles, and quite up to date. The seats were as comfortable as you're going to get, with just about enough legroom, and I wasn't in too much pain when the time for touchdown came.
Overall, I cannot recommend KLM highly enough. And if, like me, you're a big fan of the wilderness, this flight offers the added bonus of flying up and over Greenland - a priceless experience just by itself.
