On arrival at Leeds Bradford check in I was lokked after very well and given my seat selection right through to the Munich flight, the food on board was acceptable on the first leg between Leeds and Amsterdam although we were half an hour late leaving, we arrived in Amsterdam 15 mins late...I had 30 mins to find my connecting flight..panic !!!! Schipol is huge and goes on for miles I raced to get to my departure gate only to find the aircraft hadn't started to load..
When I eventually got on the Aircraft we had to wait on board for an hour in high heat whilst we waited for the catering truck to deliver our missing food....( we could have almost been in Munich by the time we got it !!) however it arrived and the flight was very late leaving we arrived late however we were looked after very well, its a pity in all the heat on the ground we wern't offered a drink...only business class were offered the choice..seemingly the ordinary traveller doesn't feel the heat or dry out as much as the business passenger..
Our return flight was very good despite being full to bursting, catering as per the outward leg was a sandwich, refreshing towels were being handed out but they ran out half way down the cabin so us lot at the back got none despite being very hot...
and the leeds Bradford return leg was also 30 mins late leaving not the fault of KLM it was air traffic control..the on board catering was very good.....and the Captain very helpful and informative....all in all I enjoyed my first flights with KLM and would fly again with them...except I would allow more time for my connecting flights at Schipol..it is a huge airport and you need to allow at least an Hour or more between connections for a comfortable transfer....
Another interesting and informative op. My KLM experience is limited to two flights with KLM Excel, a Dutch subsidiary. Good to know that KLM UK is ok. Apparently they offer very competitive fares between the UK and Europe. Cheers, Hans
