I have flown KLM to the Far East (mainly Manila in the Philippines) several times in the past 12 months. The only reason I put up with it is the price.
You can fly from your local airport to Amsterdam, which is fine, but there you board a jumbo jet. The first trap for the unwary is that the 747 is a combi (mixed passengers and freight) which means the stopovers en route last longer than usual because of cargo loading/unloading.
The food is amongst the most boring I have encountered, and if you dare to ask for a third alcoholic drink you get treated as though you are some kind of addict!
