I booked a last minute flight to Athens (with about 3 days notice)in July 2002. The flight was not the cheapest but I wanted to go. It was a connecting flight that went from Birmingham to Amsterdam then on to Athens. I was quite concerned being a viewer of Airport, that the second flight might go without me. I was assured by the travel agent that it was not going to happen because it was all part of the package.
There was no ticket problem at the airport because they were operating a ticketless system and the first part of the flight went without a hitch. Touch down in Amsterdam was fine until I realised the next leg of my journey was departing in 30 minutes. That is when I wished I was wearing my trainers. I am certain that the pilot of the first flight landed at the one end of the airport, knowing full well I had to get to the other end.
I had only flown once before and had a very basic knowlegde of the system, not to mention being alone. Luckily I saw the gate number on the TV screens and ran in the right direction, I certainly did not have time to find someone and ask. I made it within minutes. Not an experience I would contemplate reliving and certainly one that the elderly should stay away from!
Later my finace decided to join me in Greece, he has never flown before let alone without a guide so we opted for Easyjet. I also did not want us to travel home on a different airline so I enquired with easyjet too. The cost of my return ticket was less than the diffence in price for my fiances ticket if he had gone with KLM.
I enquired about a refund for my KLM return ticket (you have to try these things) as expected they said no but did offer to give me a credit note which was valid for 30 days.
Oh, did I mention that when I arrived in Greece my suitcase did not. Aparently it decided to stay in Athens. Looks like the baggage handlers did not have their trainers on either. To their credit though they did have it delivered to the nearest train station by courier the next day.

Hello. Sorry for the rating, but unfortunately there wasn't much info about KLM the airline. What was the flight like? service? food? comfort? in flight entertainment? etc etc. If you update this op please let me know.
