I flew from Newcastle to Schipol and then on to Los Angeles in March 2000. I hadn't been on an aircraft for over 25 years, and was very nervous. When I arrived at Newcastle, the KLM staff were very friendly and helpful. Even confirming my booked seat, before leaving, I had to telephone Amsterdam to reserve my seat, and the operator spoke extremely good English. The food on the UK outbound service to Amsterdam was excellent, although the aircraft seating was rather cramped. When I got on the plane at Schipol, I was surprised to find, that I had a seat, at the front of the plane. The space there was excellent. I am rather tall, and I had enough room to stretch my legs, even though I had a window seat. The return journey was a bit disappointing. Although I had booked a window seat, all it was, was a wall on the edge of the aircraft. The service was excellent on both outbound and inbound services, and the food was out of this world. I would recommened KLM to anyone. My luggage was delayed from Schipol, but that was my only quarm.
