We have just returned (October) from a week in the resort of Kefalos on the island of Kos.
We booked the holiday online about two months ago and we cannot argue about the price, £375 for two adults including flights and transfers. The flight was with Air Malta flying from Bristol.
We stayed at the self catering "Anastasia Apartments". The Apartments were described as 4 Star. I think this was pretty generous - on a facilities/decor basis. On a location basis, however, the apartments were very well situated at the end of the bay next to the marina. The beach was just ten meters from our balcony and the sea is beautiful for swimming and snorkelling (take bread to feed the fish).
The accomodation was very basic but clean and adequate. Towels and bedding was changed once during the week. We didn't exactly expect British standard four star as the package was so cheap. There were one or two problems, like only one lightbulb worked (there were four in the apartment). They were eventually replaced. There was a TV as described when we booked, but there was only three channels; one greek, one BBC World news and some dodgy american channel.
The flights to and from were in the middle of the night which ate into the weekend a little - but to be fair this was made clear to us when we booked. It was very warm at night but fans were only supplied if you paid 15 euros. Also there was a stream of semi-ferral cats outside the apartment (and all over the island) which kept coming over to beg breakfast lunch and dinner! Not great if you don't like cats.
The Kosmar rep was polite and relatively helpful although we had one or two concerns on the last night. We had to check out of our room at 5pm and the flight was not until 3am. We were told we could leave our bags at a local "pool bar" where the local Kosmar rep was based. We turned up along with all of the other passengers leaving on the flight and we were told to like all our cases up along a wall outside the bar. They assured us they were safe and there would be people around to keep an eye on them but none the less we felt that this was unsatisfactory. Leaving all of your belongings out on a driveway where they could be stolen or tampered with is not sensible, particulary in light of heightened airport security.
We did go on one Kosmar organised trip and another booked throught an independant travel company in the town. It was slightly cheaper with the independent and I think the trip was just as good. We went on a shopping trip to Bodrum and paid a little extra to have a Kosmar guide. Unfortunately when we got off the ferry the guide and rest of the group were nowhere to be seen and so we wandered off on our own. We were a little annoyed but still enjoyed the day.
My overall opinion is good. We got what we paid for, we had good weather and the accomodation and the representative was helpful. I would recommend Kosmar for a cheap holiday.

great review, have used Kosmar myself for about 10 years, always been good, but I do now worry they have been taken over by XL, things are already going wrong. This year the brochure did not come out until late. But they have always been great on Price and accomodation. regards Steve.
