Brand New 4 star deluxe property in the heart of the Old Town of Prague just a few metres away from the "Prasna brana" (Powder Tower). It is an historical art nouveau building...
more...which has been restored to its former glory. The interiorhas sympathetically married the traditional with modern design. 130 modern style bedrooms with air-conditioning, floor heating and sound proof windows. Rooms are of average size due to the nature of older building in the centre of Prague.

We have fancied going to Pargue for a while, so after finding some reasonably priced flights we started looking on Trip Advisor for a nice, central hotel that wasn't too expensive. After a while we settled on the K&K Central (not to be confused with the K&K Fenix which isn't as well located)

We booked with the hotel direct (via the web) and took advantage of their 3 nights for the price of 2 which worked out to be approximately 240 euro (bed and breakfast). A few days before arriving (our trip was Feb 2008) I e-mail the hotel to confirm the booking, requested a room on an upper floor (just to escaoe any road noise) and also mentioned that it was our first trip away since getting engaged. I also asked how they recommend getting from the airport to the hotel.

The response was prompt, the booking was confirmed and they also offered a private transfer for £30. The airport is approximately 20 minutes drive from the hotel and although a tram costs literally a couple of pounds and a cab about £10, as there were 3 of us we decided to go for the private transfer - and it was great. There was a well dressed man in his mid thirties waiting for us in the arrivals lounge, he carried out bags to the immaculate Skoda octavia and then drove usat a leisurely pace right outside the door, he also pointed out some of the attractions and some of local traffic laws to make walking easier.

Once taking into reception check in was smooth, just fill in the standard forms, swipe the credit card and get given the electronic door key. All of the reception staff speak good English.

As requested our room was on the top floor and was an interesting shape but nice. As you opened the door, there was a small area and to the left was the bathroom, average sized with the standard toilet, sink and bath with overhead shower which was lovely and powerful. In front on the door was a set of stairs (about 3 or 4 rungs) up to a large area where the two single beds were (they hotel only do twin rooms so we just pushed these together), bedside cabinets, a large wardrobe with a free to use electronic safe, a desk with a large mirror above it and fridge / mini bar under it, and a wall mounted 20 inch flat screen TV. Sitting on the desk was a basket of fruit and a bottle of sparkling wine (cava) in an ice bucket. We called reception to query this and were told it was complimentary to celebrate our engagement :-)

So then we headed out for a little walk and some sight seeing and due to the hotels location this is so, so easy as it located literally 3 minutes walk away from the Powder Tower (Prasna brana) which marks the entrance to the centre with the astronomical clock being just a further 2 minutes away. As we were on a B&B basis we looked for somewhere to eat, there are so many places the choices are endless, but as we were a little tired we opted for the Needles restaurant which was virtually opposite the hotel, where the food was lovely (prices were about the same as in the UK). Then we went back to the hotel for a drink in the cosy little bar, prices were realivelyt expensive but that it only to be expected

Breakfast the next day was very comprehensive and unlike many hotels served until atleast 10 a.m. As with most hotels the tea / coffee was brough to the table with everything else being self service. There was a variety of bread to toast yourself, bacon, venison sausage, scrambled eggs, a variety of cereals and brans, fresh fruit and cold meats. There was also a variety of juices and even a bountifull supply of sparkiling wine (once the bottle was empty a new one appeared within seconds).

Checkout was just as smooth as check in with no queries on the bill. We opted to take the hotels private transfer back to the airport too just to round the trip off in relaxed style

So if you are planning a trip to Pargue the K&K Central should be very close to the top of your list.
