K+K Hotel Maria Theresia, Vienna

Disadvantages: Not many facilities

...K & K Hotels in Vienna, one Palais and one called the K & K Hotel Maria Theresia, so if you are not specific then you could end up heading to the wrong hotel! This one is close to the river, and about 20 mins cab ride from the airport. Despite its appearance from the river side, it is in fact in the centre of Vienna and forms part of the 1st district. There is a metro stop very close to the hotel, but to be honest if you are planning to do anything in central Vienna you really ought to walk as every major museum, opera and parliament building are found clustered together within a very short walk. I would guess that within 30 minutes comfortable walk (in the right direction) and you can be anywhere that you may wish to be. There are many interesting sights much closer than that ranging from the shopping area to a very sweet street... Read review

Advantages: Not too near the city centre
Disadvantages: Great value weekend deals and lovely hotel

...The Renaissance Penta Vienna Hotel in Austria is not located too near the city centre but there is an excellent public transport facility in operation. It is about 18 miles from the airport and it took us about 35 minutes by taxi ad cost about 40 Euros (£30). The hotel itself has recently been refurbished but is charming and welcoming. All the staff speak excellent English and the level of customer care and attention to detail is excellent. Check in is from 2pm and check out by 12 noon although they let us keep the room until 3pm when we were checking out as we had a late flight home. There is parking at the hotel and a charge is made each day (about 10 Euros). ...This hotel has got to be one of the best kept secrets when it comes to staying in Vienna. The city is so compact that it is easy to explore on foot and the family run Hotel Post is one of the most economic places to stay in the central Ring area of Vienna. You are less than 10 minutes walk from the Stefansdom, Kaerntnerstrasse and the Graben and there's a subway (U-Bahn) station - Schwedenplatz about 3 minutes from the hotel, as well as stops for numerous different tram-lines. So everything is within easy reach for tourists wanting to fit in as much as possible during their visit. The Hotel Post is an older style of hotel and perhaps not as luxurious as some of the more modern hotels in the city, however, rooms are spotlessly clean, large, with usual features and more than good value for the price.
