highest standard and provide spectacular views over the gardens to the beach and beyond. Within walking distance are a plethora of shops, restaurants and bars, all buzzing with activity and exuding that holiday atmosphere for which Phuket is so well known.
concept of family vacations in Thailand and set a new standard for family oriented resorts everywhere. No other resort offers such a comprehensive range of facilities and activities for families with kids and for the young at heart. The resort has 121 rooms, but some of them, 14 in total, offer a concept that has never been seen in Thai resort hotels. Try for example the "Outer Space" room , PLUS an Underwater Room and Castle Room in the Duplex Suites. Many of the other rooms also have great sea views. The resort is located at one of the most popular and spectacular beaches in Phuket -Karon Beach. It is only a 10 minute drive to Patong ? Phuket?s popular shopping and night entertainment area and 45 minutes to Phuket Town. Ramada Resort , Karon Beach Phuket has an awesome kids programme to entertain of all of our young guests which will free up the parents time to have an even more relaxing vacation. The hotel?s finest feature is the multi activity station kidzclub. Kids between 4 and 14 will find a world of exciting things to do and to learn and to try out.

A nice long beach if you like walking. The waves can be rather big on this beach, not so good small children.
Plenty of Bars/Restaurants around which are good value.
A main road runs between the beach and most hotels.

Advantages: The surround sights are spectacular Disadvantages: Rather touristy and more expensive
...Part two of my Thailand adventure took the guise of 7 nights staying at the Phuket Arcadia Beach & Spa Resort, KaronBeach, Phuket Island. Located off the West Coast of the Thai mainland in the Andaman Sea.
This was to be the beach bumming, working on my tan part of the trip. Well it didn’t exactly work out like this! We got hit with the start of the rainy season – though l was lead to believe the beginning of June shouldn’t be too bad for rain it wasn’t the case! From being in Bangkok, where the weather was blistering, Phuket whilst humid and warm rained and rained and rained! I though we were gonna have to call on Noah and his ark! We did get a couple of good days – though it rained at night! At first l was totally pee’d off – but soon started to think hey stuff it lm thousands...

Advantages: Clear signs, difficult to get lost Disadvantages: Transport to and from the airport is not great
...are domestic ones from within Thailand but there are a growing number of International ones from within Asia and one that is due to start to London this year with Phuket Airlines.
Transport
The airport itself is about 32km north-east of Phuket Town and north of the main beaches such as Patong and Karon. It is easily reached by car, taxi or minibus – there are no trains on Phuket. Although officially there are buses that going to the airport, in reality they are not worth bothering about and you have to rely on some sort of private transport to and from the airport.
Coming from the airport
If you have not already arranged a transfer with your hotel, there are a variety of ways to get out of the airport. There are a couple of multinational car hire companies – Avis & Budget if you wish to go down that route. Just outside the doors...

Advantages: great facilities, great rooms, good view Disadvantages: Food and services a bit expensive, standard for a Hilton
...(Pineapple rice and Singha beer are my favourite).
The room I stayed in had a double bed, TV with on-demand channels, very nice bathroom with a wooden part that opens up to one side, so you can see out of the balcony.
I can remember that the Salmon sandwich from the room service menu was very good, around 200 baht.
Every day, the room service cleans the room immaculately, also leaving some orchids on the bed table and complementary mineral water.
What I also liked was that the shop close to the court yard swimming pool stocked a variety of imported English books at a reasonable price.
The only problem I can think of is getting into other places on Phuket, as well as the fact that ripping off foreigners is still wide spread throughout Thailand. Tuk Tuks from Karonbeach to Patong are quite expensive, so haggle.
Compared to similar resorts...
