Simple Greek Accommodation At A Budget Price.
Advantages: Clean apartments and lovely views. Disadvantages: Older studios are not as private and have inferior views.
...booked a week at the Eryphilli Apartments in Katelios, a tiny village in the south of the island. The location had to be right. I wanted a remote village with no mass tourism, and I also wanted a simple form of accommodation which mirrored the type of place we used to have to stay in all those years ago. My first place to begin looking had to be holiday review sites, as I have found that an overall grading given to accommodation, based on the opinions ... ...our first views of the Eryphilli Studios in the sleepy village of Katelios. We were met by one of the two brothers who own the studios, Nikos, who showed us to our room. I was immediately impressed by the sandstone coloured walkways and the cleanliness of the newly built studios. We were given the one furthest from the swimming pool area on the second floor. What I noticed was the position of these studios which are surrounded by olive trees and ...

The Hills are alive...
Advantages: Set in beautiful surroundings. Disadvantages: Halfway up a big hill.
Liberatos Village – Lassi, Kefalonia **** Well, the last review I wrote four years ago was about a much needed week of rest and relaxation. Having not had another summer holiday in the last four years, it made sense to ease myself back into Ciao reviewing by following a similar subject. **** Location: **** Liberatos Village, for this year at least, was a Thomson’s only complex in the resort of Lassi, Kefalonia. Next year, the owner is planning on ... ...the route you take. Liberatos is, for some at least, in an ideal location – but only if you don’t mind walking uphill! The main resort is set alongside a main road, very close to the beach. Our apartments were away from the hustle and bustle, approximately 750m up a winding road that took you up a rather steep climb into the complex. This may sound like a problem, but it meant that there was a little more wind, making the air fresher, which left ...

Its not a Hotel: Its a Village (+ bangs & wasps)!
Advantages: Kids loved it, Good food, Interesting Water Park. Disadvantages: Wasps, lack of sunbeads after 9am by the pool, Wasps, Hills & Wasps!
...star. Where:
Kefalonia is one of many Greek Islands. The Kefalonia Garden Village (KGV) is near the resort of Lixouri, on the Western side of the island. Bangs: Be aware that the island has some small tremors (yes, earthquake type things) from time to time. This causes the place to rumble a bit and you hear a few 'odd' noises!
Getting there:
We flew from Gatwick (North terminal) on a flight that was about 3hrs & 30 mins each way. Cost:
For 4 ... ...peak time of the year (August) and taking the 'All Inclusive' option it was about £2,300.
Who its for:
The Village is geared up for families with children. Couples would enjoy this or people with children. This would not be so suitable for older people due to the hills (see further on). The package is advertised as half board but consider the 'All Inclusive' option.
Thomson/Tui:
Our check-in going out was the 'new' South terminal at Gatwick airport. ...

A luxurious hotel complex
Advantages: Modern, air conditioning, very clean, good location Disadvantages: Not very Greek
...from Skala to Poros, the Nine Muses hotel is a relatively recent development, and as such you can expect all the modern amenities that are found within the newer complexes.
On arrival at the hotel you can expect a warm welcome, including being shown to your room by one of the managers and having your cases delivered straight to your door.
The rooms themselves are spacious, modern and quite luxurious (for Greece!). Each room contains a large fridge ... ...TV with some Greek and English channels. It was also a nice touch to find a fresh flower in a vase had been placed on a counter top - another pleasant and surprising welcome.
The bathrooms are simply gorgeous, particularly noting the large power-shower cubicles (a rarity in Greece). Balconies are relatively private and all are surrounded by lush greenery and flowers, perfect for lazing on late afternoon/early evening.
The pool/bar area is always ...
