special character and service. Quietly situated just over Pulteney Bridge and only minutes away from the famous Roman Baths, shops and restaurants, it really is in an ideal location for the the visitor to Bath.
Advantages: lovely views with quality accommodation Disadvantages: small ensuite, not the cheapest
...We recently visited this hotel for the third time in seven years. Over this time the ownership has changed but the service and overall hotel experience has not. Our first visit was back in 1999 when my husband proposed to me so it has very fond memories for us both and our recent visit included our two year old son. For the purpose of this review, I will base it on my recent visit only unless stated otherwise.
*** HOTEL OVERVIEW ***
Rated three RAC stars, the Georgian hotel is set in two acres of Derbyshire hillside and has spectacular views over Derwent Valley. Built back in the 1750's, the hotel boasts to have been visited by Queen Victoria when she was a princess as well as Lord Byron.
*** LOCATION ***
It is very easy to find. The hotel is situated just off the A6 on the south side of Matlock Bath in Derbyshire. Turn off...

Advantages: Cheap, close to shops, clubs and restaurants Disadvantages: Noisy, below par surroundings
...I've stayed in a few Travelodges over the years and I have a particular view of them. This Travelodge did not live up to that image, I was quite disappointed with this hotel. Bear in mind that I've stayed in Travelodges in Portsmouth, Milton Keynes, etc, Bath is a few steps up on the "posh" scale so I was expecting maybe slightly more of this Travelodge. Not the slightly less that I received.
My partner and I went to Bath Travelodge for three nights over Valentine's weekend. Just a slight distance from the train station, a taxi at night is needed but it's an easy walk in the daylight, straight through all of the shops. Even from the outside, this TL is unlike most others. There are no huge, glaring signs pointing it out to every passerby, in fact I think you could easily miss it. Being in the town centre there is no car park, which...

Advantages: Great Location In Bath Disadvantages: Parking is expensive in Bath
...We live near Bath anyway, and have often walked past The Francis Hotel. We decided to do a local weekend break in Bath (and have a few bevvies in the evening!). Note that it is now a "Mercure" Hotel and not a "Macdonald" Hotel.
If you are after a cheap bargain, then book The Francis via the following website as it's £35 cheaper than the mercure hotels official website: www.benbow.org.uk/francis.htm
The Francis is ideally located in the center of Bath. I don't think you can get any closer. There are numerous restaurants around the corner, and the theatre is nearby. The main shopping streets of Bath are really only a couple of minutes away (although i'd allow a good few hours to browse them).
The Francis itself overlooks a small park square. Quite often they have a french travelling market located here. The rooms are very good...

The Fisher Price Aquarium Bath Centre has got to be one of the best gifts I received when my baby was born and my friends even provided the Phillips screwdriver I needed to put it together. The bath centre grows in three stages with your child and the... more
If you’ve never been to Bath, in the South West of England, then you should most definitely go. And you should go tomorrow! This beautiful, ancient Roman city has been very sensitively planned and developed and even the more modern buildings seem to... more
Introduction
I love a good bath. Perhaps this is because for a good amount of time when I was growing up, we did not have a shower. The bath was the only way of getting clean. Therefore, I always like a nice scent in the air as I sink beneath the... more
