The beauty of the Mara
Review of Masai Mara National Park (Kenya) by Sophie-Kaia

Advantages: learning about an amazing culture/stunning scenery/up close with the animals
Disadvantages: food and drink where we were staying was not inclusive so rather expensive

I travelled to the Mara as a part of a seven day safari. I stayed at the Serena lodge for one night and spent two fantastic days here. The beauty of the Maasai Mara is the abundance of wildlife, we went on four game drives and were not disappointed once. Here in the space of two days we marvelled at lions, lion cubs and lionesses (one would have been enough for me - I was thrilled!) we watched them view "their" territory early in the morning and ...
...many other wonderful animals such as a cheetah and her cubs,a leopard, meercats, hyenas, zebras, wilderbeast and many many more. The photographic opportunities were surreal, really stunning shots! We saw the sun set over the Acacia trees as we finished our game drives - a truly african experience. We were taken to the mara river where we saw crocodile and hippo. all this in two days! We were also treated to a visit to one of the local Maasai ... Read review

Great experience Kenya- Mombasa and Nairobi!!!!
Review of General: Kenya by pamoja

Advantages: Great People, Great Nightlife, Great Experience!
Disadvantages: Too many things to see, short time..!!

Kenya has a lot to offer. Nairobi is the Capital city and Mombasa being the second largest town. There are very things one can experience in both cities. In Nairobi, there are a lot of entertainment spots. For example, The Carnivore bar and restaurant, (where you can taste game meat plus nightlife)or the Casablanca.. (Really nice)…or you can head off to Westland’s area where there are many clubs and it’s only five minute drive to the city centre. ...
...inn, Hilton, Panafric, Grand Regency, The intercontinental. You can get pocket friendly hotels; all you have to do is shop around. Alternatively, if you intend to stay longer you can rent a furnished apartment in areas such as Hurlingham or Westland’s. You’ll pay far much less than staying in a hotel. There is the ‘Masaai market’ every Tuesday on the Globe cinema round-about where you can buy wood carvings, antiques e.t.c I’d advice anyone to please ... Read review

Worth the hassle
Review of Tsavo East National Park (Kenya) by pbryer

Advantages: wildlife, scenery, people, game parks, safari
Disadvantages: danger of robbery and violence, beaches, hassle

...drive through the gates of Tsavo National Park. Thrilling to see my first zebra, antelope and warthog that wasn't on the television or in a zoo; this was wildlife up close and personal and wild. But of course, we all wanted to see the big, dangerous sexy ones. The advantage in visiting during the dry season is that the guide - in our case, Peter - has a pretty good idea of where to find the animals, since water supply is restricted to a few waterholes ...
...As we drove out of Tsavo for the last time, a battered old lion, who sported but half a tail, ambled along the dirt road in front of us for ten minutes or so, then, having done his escort duty, peeled off into the grass leaving us to the long drive back to Malindi. A day later, emboldened with vodka, we decided to risk a walk into Malindi. One of the local lads sprang to his feet as we left the hotel. I explained that we didn't want to buy anything, ... Niarobi - Open your Eyes !
Review of Nairobi (Kenya) by gt5952

Advantages: Diverse city with many attractions
Disadvantages: Unhealthy for kids who live on the street

...is this really Kenya? Nairobi is an interesting city, colourful, inviting, busy, relaxing, all at once. From street traders to guys who wash your windscreen at the lights, people everywhere are on the make, and doing it well. The night life is good, and excellent restaurants can be found at every street corner. A great place for shopping is the Yaya centre, it has everything under one roof! A place I wouldnt give a miss though is the shanty towns..... ...
...plastic and cardboard. Nairobi has a massive street children problem, they are on force, and this is why Nairobi has become a regular haunt for those wishing to exploit the youngsters. The Police will take pride in hitting these children if they beg you for money, most of these kids are high from sniffing bags of glue, a way of release from their horrid existence. Programs are in place across the city to help these children, mainly funded from ... Read review

Nakuru - Behind the Rhino, The real resort!
Review of Nakuru (Kenya) by gt5952

Advantages: Great Parks
Disadvantages: Niave Tourists

...to push my thoughts onto Nakuru itself, the city of Nakuru. Here we have a city trying to play big, in the day time, it beholds street sellers and street children alike, at night, it beholds night clubs / brothels and again, street children. I would rather divert my thoughts onto things that matter, rather than those that dont. There is a large community of children who live on the streets all over Kenya, and Nakuru has its fair share. These children ...
...bodies for money, and sometimes food, which is rather appauling. My Kenyan guide explained to me that these children were unwanted by their families so ran away so they diddnt need to go to school anymore, well, it must be the childrens fault, here lies the first problem, the Kenyan Niavety, obviously this isnt the whole population. Lacking from adequate sewage disposal, the streets are littered with extrement, and the smell that accompanies it ... Read review
