Now part of a chain but still has character Advantages: A taste of old colonial Disadvantages: Can't think of any Stayed here on two separate nights on the Kuoni Leopard safari this July but it's used as the start point for a lot of Kuoni tours. Hotel used to be the Mayfair Court (stayed here in 94) and retains a lot of local flavour with pretty gardens, water features and an outdoor canopied breakfast restaurant where much food is cooked fresh to order. This overlooks a decent sized swimming pool but you aren't assaulted by chlorine. The room the first time ... ...we were in a spacious ground floor room overlooking the garden (where a wedding was taking place) with the most comfortable beds and pillows ever - so comfy that we tucked ourselves under duvets and watched TV from bed (we had been on the road for 14 days)! Up close and personal at Treetops Advantages: Eye ball to eye ball with wildlife Disadvantages: Lots of stairs Staying at Treetops is a unique experience - and I've now been twice. I'd go every weekend if it wasn't so far away. There is nowhere like it for getting up close and personal - with both wildlife and fellow guests! The accommodation is literally built around trees and is almost completely made of wood. The tiny 2-bed rooms smell deliciously of cedarwood and there are tree trunks up through the lounges. The viewing facilities, both indoor and outside, ... ...warning you of wildlife appearances during the night. They put food out for the birds which you can watch from a couple of feet away. Dinner - hot and delicious - is taken 'assembly' style with a neat sliding service rack in the centre of the tables and there was also afternoon tea. Delightful. You can only take a small item of luggage and the rest is stored at Outspan from where you are bussed to Treetops. You return to Outspan for breakfast. A good hotel with Fantastic Staff and on an Amazing Beach Advantages: Great Staff and Located on a Gorgeous Beach Disadvantages: Food could become tiresome if you stayed too long We stayed in this all-inclusive hotel in early December 2007 for 6 nights, but the experience was so good it I can remember almost everything about it. LOCATION --------------- It is located on one of the most amazing beaches I've ever had the pleasure to visit. Diani beach is made of miles and miles of powder white sand. ROOMS ----------- We stayed in one of their Cottage Rooms. This consisted of 3 rooms. The first room as you entered the accommodation ... ...is provided above each bed.There was also a wardrobe, which also houses the safe. It is worth noting here that the use of the safe is charged as an extra. Other furnishings in the first bedroom include a bedside table and a table lamp. The second bedroom contains a four-poster bed. This too is draped in a mosquito net. There is also a dressing table with some drawers and a pedestal to sit on. This second bedroom also leads into the bathroom. Awful Advantages: Hot weather Disadvantages: Everything else I stayed here in December 2007 and have to say I had the worst holiday ever! The resort is a secure compound and is very isolated. This left me feeling as if I was under house arrest and I could have been anywhere - This would have been ok if the sea/beach were usable. The "beach" is a narrow strip of sand with throngs of beach boys harassing you, and the sea is un swimmable and devoid of sea life. The hotel is garish in decor and very 70's. There ...
