A good hotel with Fantastic Staff and on an Amazing Beach Advantages: Great Staff and Located on a Gorgeous Beach Disadvantages: Food could become tiresome if you stayed too long We stayed in this all-inclusive hotel in early December 2007 for 6 nights, but the experience was so good it I can remember almost everything about it. LOCATION --------------- It is located on one of the most amazing beaches I've ever had the pleasure to visit. Diani beach is made of miles and miles of powder white sand. ROOMS ----------- We stayed in one of their Cottage Rooms. This consisted of 3 rooms. The first room as you entered the accommodation ... ...is provided above each bed.There was also a wardrobe, which also houses the safe. It is worth noting here that the use of the safe is charged as an extra. Other furnishings in the first bedroom include a bedside table and a table lamp. The second bedroom contains a four-poster bed. This too is draped in a mosquito net. There is also a dressing table with some drawers and a pedestal to sit on. This second bedroom also leads into the bathroom. Up close and personal at Treetops Advantages: Eye ball to eye ball with wildlife Disadvantages: Lots of stairs Staying at Treetops is a unique experience - and I've now been twice. I'd go every weekend if it wasn't so far away. There is nowhere like it for getting up close and personal - with both wildlife and fellow guests! The accommodation is literally built around trees and is almost completely made of wood. The tiny 2-bed rooms smell deliciously of cedarwood and there are tree trunks up through the lounges. The viewing facilities, both indoor and outside, ... ...warning you of wildlife appearances during the night. They put food out for the birds which you can watch from a couple of feet away. Dinner - hot and delicious - is taken 'assembly' style with a neat sliding service rack in the centre of the tables and there was also afternoon tea. Delightful. You can only take a small item of luggage and the rest is stored at Outspan from where you are bussed to Treetops. You return to Outspan for breakfast. There's a leopard in the hotel! Advantages: The view, leopard feeding Disadvantages: Basic rooms, lizard infestation, falic puddings Where it is: Ngulia Lodge is in the middle of Tsavo West Safari park in Kenya. Tsavo East and West combined creates the largest game reserve in Kenya and offers a different range to the Masai Mara. Also unlike the Masai it is easily accesible from Mombasa via road (about 2 hours.) Tsavo West is thicker with dense vegetation compared to the east which is more dusty and barren. If you are planning to do a safari from Mombasa you will need to go for ... ...Tsavo East and West, but this hotel is only a 15 minute drive from the rhino sanctuary - the only place you are going to see them as they still need to be protected from poachers. The rooms: The rooms were pretty basic. A tiled floor, a bed and a bathroom with bath and shower. Electricity was only available between 1-2pm and from 6pm in the evening. greatvalue Advantages: Location, Entertainment,helpful staff,great value for money Disadvantages: Basic, repetative food ...concerned, I neednt have been. Watamu beach club is an excellent hotel situated right on the white sands. The staff are helpfull and friendly, the entertainment was different and varied each night. The hotel is well kept and clean. My only complaint is that the food, although good becomes a little repetative, but when you think that the locals of the village are eating rice everyday, i do not think it justified to complain. Also anyone looking for ... ...are very basic. One last thing the hotel provides a daily free activities program including beach walks, village tours, and neighbouring village tours.
