First stop the keycamp website - has most of what you need to decide on which site to visit. Our criteria was to visit France with two children (18 months and 4yrs) in September for a week.
Must be affordable, enjoyable and warm. We usually go for independant travel. Book the flight and maybe the first night, but then we make it up as we go. The idea of Keycamps did not immediately appeal but we thought it would be easy to entertain the children and still visit some of the sites locally.
We booked to stay at Tours, not our original choice but we wanted to stay in one of the mobile homes, which seems to reduce your options.
The tents looked good fun, however we arrived after 3 weeks of rain which much have put a damper on the tent brigade. Atleast with the mobile homes you can get out of the weather and everything is slef contained. We had a Supernova which was adequate - once we had persuaded the office that our gas really had run out and that we were suffering from a bout of ant attack.
The site is nicely laid out with some of the sites in full sun and others in the woods - so quite shady. Our home was perfect - at the end of a quiet track through the woods, very little traffic and partly shady - sun worshippers we are not. These seem to be allocated on arrival , but you may be able to specify your location. The interior was in good condition, no mould or damp, even in the full size shower cubicle. The living area was ample and the bedrooms small but fine.
We paid £725 for one week in September which included channel tunnel crossing and 3 tickets to Disney.
We crossed early morning and drove from Calais to Tour in around 5 hours - around Paris keep heading for Bordeaux - it gets confusing otherwise.
What we liked about the site was the inside pool - the outside pool was quite cool. The lake was nice to wander around - it's quite large. Our four year old loved the fun stations - 1-2 hour sessions which were free and the staff really helpful and friendly.
I guess our only real gripes were, the shop was a bit pricy as well as the bar, the pool would be packed mid season and the entertainment can be heard across the site in the evening.
A mixed blessing is the number of English guests, if you are trying to get away from the brit pack - this may not be for you. However it is nice to be able to converse easily after spending all day out speaking pigeon french.
Overall we had a great time, lots of visits to local sites - Château Azay-le-Rideau - small but worth the visit, Zoo de Doue - well worth the trip

Do they still have English staff in the kids clubs? I thought about working there once but got some terrible feedback from friends who had. Still, it sounds like you enjoyed it.
