Jolly Carlton Hotel - Amsterdam

Advantages: Friendly staff, modern decor, lots of handy facilities, great location
Disadvantages: Rooms are a bit on the small side and cramped

at the hotel free of charge. There is a restaurant and a brasserie at the hotel, we didn't go to these so I can't comment on the food or service, but they did look very nice! There is a private car park at the hotel, but there is a charge for using this (we didn't come with a car so I'm not too sure how much it is!) There are also cots available from reception if you require one. The hotel is in a wonderful location, it is right next to the floating flower market, which is lovely to look around and see all the flowers. There is a Burger King and a McDonalds right across the road from the hotel, but also lots of nice little restaurants and coffee shops. It is a short walk to Dam Square and on the way you pass Amsterdam Dungeons and Madame Tussauds, so everything is really close by! You can walk to the centre (Dam Square) in around 7 -10 ...

Review of Jolly Carlton Hotel, Amsterdam

Rho Hotel Amsterdam

Advantages: Great location, good price
Disadvantages: None at the price!

OK so there is another review, I know. Here's mine. The hotel is very conveniently located about a 10 minute walk from Amsterdam CS (central station), just off the SE corner of Dam Square. Just look up as you enter the square - you cannot miss the Rho sign. Our room was on the second floor and as a result somewhat noisy at night. (It was locals too, not tourists, making the noise!!) Our friends were on the top floor and had a much nicer and quieter room. Try to get top floor when you check in! The rooms were clean and light. Of reasonable size (our friends room was actually very large) and really quite comfortable. The staff were very friendly and of course (this being The Netherlands) English was spoken perfectly. The hotel is surprisingly large and is always busy especially at breakfast. The breakfast rooms are large ...

Review of RHO Hotel, Amsterdam

21st Amsterdam Hotel

Advantages: Mediocre location, cheap
Disadvantages: Could be cleaner, no towel!

I went on holiday recently with a bunch of lads to celebrate our 21st Birthday....what we did in Amsterdam though for that is a different story xD However on browsing the internet we originally settled on a hotel which was said to be literally 1 minute walk away from the city centre. However due to some stairs being described as the 'Stairs of Death' We decided to upgrade to a 2* Hotel instead! On arrival in Amsterdam, we found a booth at the train station where you typed in the address of your hotel, and it located it for you and printed it along with tram lines and numbers to get, So we printed and thought with our luggage, oh that doesn't look far, we'll walk there. And truth be told, it was only what 20 minutes walk away from the centre. Maybe a bit more depending on your walking pace. But with the Luggage it took ...
