Travel alot on Easyjet, Ryanair and any other carrier that will take us to where we want to go. Retired from working a Scheme Manager and lots of knocks on door to now knocking on doors of hotels.

The Kings Arms, Horncastle Road, Boston has just been refurbished and is looking wonderful. We went for Sunday lunch the first weekend it reopened.
As I am a Boston girl and Bateman’s being the local brew, what a fitting place to go for a pint and lunch.
The outside of the pub is clean and inviting, the windows gleamed in the sunshine and with a great view across the river, The Maud Foster, of Boston Windmill.
We walked in and the bar opens up in front of you with an array of hand pumps selling the Bateman’s beer. Mick the landlord is quiet imposing behind the bar, but very friendly. He also pulls a great pint. I had the best pint (well not just one) of Bateman’s Dark Mild that I have tasted in years. Well done that man. Around the walls are commemorative beer mats of Bateman’s, in frames not just stuck to the wall with blue tack. At the opposite end of the bar is a pool table but you don’t feel as though it or you should not be there.
Through the back of the bar is the dining room, which can seat 40 with no problem.
We ordered the Sunday lunch and there was a choice of soup or prawn cocktail for starters, beef or turkey for mains and then 4 desserts. All the food is home cooked in the kitchen just off the dinning.
Soup was vegetable, thick, creamy and full of vegetables not tinned, very nice, Rob had the prawn cocktail and enjoyed it.
The main course, 3 beef, 2 turkey was served with a Yorkshire pudding and stuffing on all plates. We had a dish of carrots, cauliflower, broccoli, peas and mashed potatoes, plus another one of roast potatoes and parsnips. Gravy served in gravy boats and extra was offered if required. Nothing was too much trouble for the waitresses who where kept very busy and always very polite and cheerful.
We could not manage a pudding, which was a great shame, as Lynn Charlotte and myself where looking forward to them. The choices were homemade cheesecake, my choice, apple crumble or pie again home made or ice cream.
We decided that we will go again and not have a starter so we can leave room for a pudding.
The cost of this fine fare was £5-95 for two courses or £7-95 for 3.
Viv, does all the cooking and when we spoke to her told us that she had also revamped the rooms upstairs, and offered to show us around. The rooms just knock your socks off.
The beige room, a double room on the front has the wonderful view of the windmill outside the window. It is en suite and the big double bed looked so comfortable. The bed linen just so crisp with matching cushions and all tastefully colour co-ordinated.
We then went along to look at another room at the back, a twin room this time and the only room with a bath. The bathroom here is red………….but looks fabulous, the bedding and the room once again, immaculate and all co-ordinated.
There is also a room with a four poster bed, but we did not get to look at that one. (In use)
Lynn and Charlotte my sister in law and niece who still live in Boston was in raptures over the rooms. Charlotte in her final year at University (fashion) was well impressed. The cost of the rooms for a night is £35 for a single, £50 upwards for a double with breakfast. If lunch is anything to go by then breakfast is well worth it.
