King's Park and Botanical Gardens are located at the East edge of Perth city centre and overlook the city and Swan River. They are situated on a hill so give fantastic and free views across the whole city and beyond.

Below is a link to getting maps of the park and all its facilities and any information onm things but I have described some of these below as well!
http://www.kpbg.wa.gov.au/home/index.html

The park has 2 cafes, a restaurant, 2 kiosks and a craft shop for quality contemporary Australian craft and design.

***GUIDED WALKS***
If you want to learn about the flowers and the views and about Perth itself, then take a guided walk with one of the volunteer guides. These are FREE (!!) and are run everyday at 10am and 2pm and if there are less than 10 of you then there is no need to book - just turn up to Fraser Avenue, opposite the Visitor's centre.

There are a number of different guided walks that operate: Botanic Garden Walk (1-1.5hrs), King's Park - Past & Present (1-1.5hrs), Water Views and Wilderness (2-2.5hrs) and Wilderness & Wildflowers (1-1.5hrs). You should check on the internet for which one is being run on a particular day as this changes and the Water Views and Wilderness & Wilderness and Wildflowers only run during winter and spring.

***SELF-GUIDED WALKS***
There are also a number of self guided walks for the adventurous explorers amongst us and there are information boards along the way so don't feel like you are missing out from not having guides on these routes!

- LotteryWest Federation Walkway - Probably the most poopular tourist attraction within the park, this includes a glass walkway, elevated 52m above the forest and extending for 620m, this allows you to walk across the tops of the Eucalypt trrees and gives fantastic views across the city and the rivers. This walk takes about 40mins return from the Visitors Centre.

- The Law Walk - 2.5km loop through bushland, allow 45 mins.

- Kokoda Track Walk - a tribute to Australian troops who fought in Papua New Guinea in 1942-43. Climb up 150 steps and end up at the War Memorial.

- Memorial Walk - 1.7km (allow 1 hr) walk though 14 meorials of Australians in battle. Pick up a brochure of this walk at the Visitor's Centre before you leave so you know what you are looking at along the way!

The Park itself is a great way to escape the city life even though you are still only a few miles away from the city centre! It gives fantastic views across the city and across the rivers but is the perfect place to relax, have a picnic, walk, cycle or just look at the diverse plants and wildlife that live within the park. You can drive up the hill and there are plenty of parking spaces, but the walks are on foot only. Some of the walks have wheelchair access and are easy, but even if you don't feel like doing anything, take a drive up there anyway just to look at the stunning views!

What is the fantastic restaurant up there called. I have eaten there a few times, and it was amazing, especially the views of the City at night.
