Shopping how it used to be...

Advantages: Wide range of choice for reasonable prices, next door to the bus station
Disadvantages: Fruit and veg is occasionally past its best, not too convenient for the train station

Kirkgate Market has been around for quite some time. It started life as an open air market early on in the Victorian period, with a central indoor market being added later. It became the original home to Mr Marks and his penny bazaar in the 1880s. The original indoor market burned down in 1893, and the current building was officially opened in 1904. Doing the background research into the market's history has proved a little problematic, ...
...my heart for cheese. Kirkgate Market has a great stall specialising in cheeses - a wide variety are cut of from large blocks, so you can buy as much or as little as you like. Other cheese on special offer (i.e. it has a pretty short shelf life left) are sold in pre-cut blocks for around £1 each. Every now and again, I've come across a giant bag of parmesan shavings (just like they serve on your food in Italian restaurants) for just a couple of quid.

Kirkgate Market is King

Advantages: Save on pennies and get friendly relaxed service from the people
Disadvantages: you won't find everything that you get in a supermarket

I will admit that I have never really been a great fan of markets but then I obviously wasn't going to the right ones! Having just relocated to Leeds I set out in search of sustenance and found Kirkgate Market. Now, I can honestly say that my opinion has done a complete 'U' turn. *Where is Kirkgate Market? Leeds city centre just off Harewood Street. If you are coming from further afield just find MillGarth Police station on your map and you can't miss it. It is also right next door to the National Express Coach station. *When is it open? From 8am to 5pm Monday, Tuesday, Saturday with 8am to 1pm on Wednesday and for those early birds 7.30am to 5pm on Thursday, Friday. N.B Closed on a Sunday. *Indoor or Outdoor? A bit of both. * What does it sell? Everything you need to survive but don't go looking for the latest ...

leeds market splendid for buying fresh eggs

Advantages: fantastic variety
Disadvantages: be carefull of rogue mobile phone traders

leeds kirkgate market is the only market with an outdoor market stall that sells fresh eggs.its amazing a guy called javed a well experienced trader came up with amazing idea of selling fresh chicken eggs from his market stall, hes so busy ,not suprisingly hes the only trader in the country selling eggs form his stall. hes one friendly chap, and quite a character, leeds market is not short of characters. hes the guy who used to sell toasters and kettles before some houswife beat him up for selling a faulty toaster. his eggs are fantastic value ,and he gives discount to sexy pakistani girls. javs eggs are up to spec, high quality and the best available in leeds. pleny of other top quality gear to be found in leeds market. just be carefull when buying mobile phone accessories, they car be fake and also a lot ...

Surf as you watch the real world go by

Advantages: peace quiet and lots of good advice.
Disadvantages: high ceiling means the room gets a little cold in febuary(hope its not the same in summer....)

An oasis of tranquillity in a busy city, the Web Junction is found by the side of Leeds busy Kirkgate Market on Ludgate Hill off Vicar Lane LS2 7HZ.From the moment you enter the atmosphere is friendly and buisness like with the small team of staff eager to assist in getting you on to the net and further. At first glance this place pails in comparission to the Virgin Space internet zone with its pounding music and cramped/high tec look or the CEX cafe with its grungy/lo-fi feel and attitude,But come in and spend an hour or two here and youll start to see the charm of the place.Done out in mild blues and greens with wooden work stations and floors there is a sense of peace the ouzes around you(ok poetic licence aside this place really chills you out),the stations are well set up to give you minimum distractions are limited privacy ...
